I guess I kinda forgot about this thing. Not sure if anyone is still out there listening, but here is an update on us.<br />
<br />
I have been enjoying life with both kids in full time school. Its allowed me more time for my business and of course the things I enjoy volunteering with, church, Girl Guides etc. It was an odd adjustment at first with Xander starting Kindergarten. I soon realized the days go fast and they are home again.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I cut my hair, which was a huge move for me. I had an extremely rough few months personally and emotionally. There is something with cutting off that much hair that is therapeutic. Its like cutting off the pain of the old and starting fresh. Personally, I am in a good spot now, happy and healthy, and feeling very much at peace. Thankful for a loving God who truly watches over me and keeps me safe, and has put a very patience man in my life to walk along with. Thanks Ken :)</div>

Ken has been busy with work and play. He is animating a new project, working on a book project and gets the opportunity to travel with work here and there. Last summer it was London and Paris, we were all jealous! Ken and I will be celebrating 14 years married this June. Crazy stuff! He also turned 40, so far so good!<br />
<br />

<br />
Ariel is in grade 3, dancing 7 hours a week, yep you heard me, and continues her Brownies, AWANAS and the odd swimming lesson. She completed her grade 2 ballet exam a few weeks ago, so we are waiting for the results to come in several weeks. Dance competitions are starting soon, she has been working hard with her 3 competitive groups and her first jazz solo. She takes it all in stride and enjoys performing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
The Nutcracker performance was an amazing experience for her, we are just ordering our dvd and photos from the show now. She is considering auditioning again, so we will see.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Xander, the big man in Kindergarten and taking the world by storm. He grew up so fast over the summer and surprised me with his quick and seamless transition to full day school. He loves his teacher and is thriving. He is showing signs of a budding artist and loves to sit and draw for hours. Xander also took up soccer this fall and found his happy place. So we have become soccer parents, something new for the 'non' sporty folks here, but we are learning.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
He also joined Beavers after the countless times he had to tag along for Browines, he just had to be apart of the badges and camps. He loves it and seeing my kids in uniform makes a Mommy proud!<br />

<br />
Meeko just turned 2 and is enjoying the long walks I can take him on in the afternoon while the kids are at school. He is always excited to see them come home but he is happy chasing the cats while they are gone. He likes to pretend he is a cat... or maybe he is one. Here is a great shot of him in 'cat loaf' position.<br />

Boris and Tasha are settled and a wonderful part of our family. They just celebrated their first birthdays and are quirky and give us endless entertainment. Boris likes to watch over us from 'his' spot on the stairs, and Tasha is a master of waking up the kids for school. Both are snuglers and sleep at the foot our bed.<br />

<br />
Spring break is coming to an end this week and everyone will be back to their routines. Well, that is a brief update from us... leave a comment if you are still around. Maybe I'll tune in more.Jayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14821787656180664339noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8053280.post-40808233940681497092014-05-11T22:37:00.001-07:002014-05-11T22:37:48.826-07:00um... its MAY!Yikes... that was a long break... did you think I be back?<br />
<br />
Well, lets do a brief recap of the past few months. In one word, work. I did a lot of work right after Christmas and its been solid since. That is pretty typical and I find it continues into the summer for weddings. Its been so much so that I have been turning lots of people away, thankfully a friend started a cake business too and I send her lots of people. Its helpful to have someone to send them to as its hard to say no and see someone disappointed. I think its time to raise my prices again, a hard thing to do but it will be the best for me and my time.<br />
<br />
I have been working for the church in my typical children's coordinator role for some time now and with the size of our programs they are in the process of hiring a family pastor. Until that happens, they have made the decision to pay me for my time, which I do appreciate!<br />
<br />
Brownies is still going strong, and we end at the end of June and conclude with camp in July. Can't wait! I love my girls and I am excited for next year and some new ones coming up from Sparks that I know from Ariel's school.<br />
<br />
We officially registered Xander for Kindergarten. I had applied for cross catchment again to get him into the same school Ariel is in. We were told we would find out in May if he got in and I am excited to say he was! Woot! He can't wait to come next year and I am looking forward to dropping off at one school only!<br />
<br />
We experienced a few snowy days in February, not always common for us, so the kids loved every moment of it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oTK9ZHRsVoU/U3A_ru4of7I/AAAAAAAALBs/Bm4zVZ1garw/s1600/1901142_10152227916425979_2080084352_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oTK9ZHRsVoU/U3A_ru4of7I/AAAAAAAALBs/Bm4zVZ1garw/s1600/1901142_10152227916425979_2080084352_n.jpg" height="400" width="292" /></a></div>
<br />
Ariel had her first experience with what ballet exams will be like when she completed a 'presentation'. She did wonderfully and she is excited to do exams next year with the big girls! Its amazing to think these guys have been dancing together since kinderdance, they have grown so much!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We had some pageant fun and Ariel won her first 'Grand Supreme' title. A very exciting day for her!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Her Shirley Temple Soda Pop ad also came out. I love her hair all curly. So cute!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N4BMqqYq2G4/U3BAvDUqZzI/AAAAAAAALDE/cvJK1ZevaQA/s1600/10155416_636535036414942_110971949_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N4BMqqYq2G4/U3BAvDUqZzI/AAAAAAAALDE/cvJK1ZevaQA/s1600/10155416_636535036414942_110971949_n.jpg" height="281" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Xander continued to grow himself, not only in size (although he is still a little guy) but in his confidence. He took a hip hop class and loved it. Although we are always reminded he is super shy when it comes to performances. He wouldn't do it in class when we came to watch but at home with only mommy. We are working on that. Ariel always is his biggest fan, as is as well for her. I love that they support each other so much! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HXqJMQvsaPg/U3BAJRH6zbI/AAAAAAAALCM/BdBNtBFKI_0/s1600/DSC_2560a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HXqJMQvsaPg/U3BAJRH6zbI/AAAAAAAALCM/BdBNtBFKI_0/s1600/DSC_2560a.jpg" height="400" width="263" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
In March we had Spring Break and a Brownie camp which was a blast. Over the break I took the kids geocaching which is a new past time of fun for us! Finding treasure is a hoot! Ariel even managed to earn her challenge badge for all the fun we had. Who knew! We also attended a small pageant and Ariel won the whole thing! She was thrilled, and I was shocked. She really has been having a great year performing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fBw6StQTvXA/U3BAQ7P3wzI/AAAAAAAALCU/nsFpFyO0W5s/s1600/DSC_3798.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fBw6StQTvXA/U3BAQ7P3wzI/AAAAAAAALCU/nsFpFyO0W5s/s1600/DSC_3798.jpg" height="400" width="265" /></a></div>
<br />
Following spring break started dance competition season. We did 3 festivals with 2 different routines. Always a great experience and fun. We are looking forward to the recital now!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-z5mA7Nf1WRU/U3BAvCxHKlI/AAAAAAAALCs/v8SrI_WhcSw/s1600/10154496_10152318905060979_3943900016239168886_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-z5mA7Nf1WRU/U3BAvCxHKlI/AAAAAAAALCs/v8SrI_WhcSw/s1600/10154496_10152318905060979_3943900016239168886_n.jpg" height="400" width="375" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The kids finished up AWANAS for the year and what a year it was! Xander did both his books in Cubbies and earned his bear and ribbon. Ariel in Sparks finished all 3 books and won 2 ribbons and the Sparky award. They had to work hard since they were only in each program for a year as we were new to the club. I am so impressed with them and their work... but my secret joy comes when I hear them quote scripture to each other when talking about what God wants them to do. Xander is moving up to Sparks next year and Ariel is up to T&T. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Preschool has been going really well this year for Xander. He is really emerging as a little artist and loves to tell me about the things they learn. We had a field trip to the beach....</div>

...a very special Mother's Day tea and bug day is coming up! I know how much I am going to miss him next year. These years really do go fast!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Xander has joined Spring Soccer as his current activity. He is loving it, as his teachers told me it might be a great fit after watching him play with his friends at school. We may have found his 'thing' but we shall see. We are registered for fall, as he is eager to be on a team!</div>

<br />
On the day of Ariel's last competition, we got word of an open audition down town for the Goh ballet's nutcracker performance. We decided it be fun to try out and went down to experience it.<br />

<br />
What an overwhelming experience. The kids were behind closed doors for over an hour, to which Ariel tells me was lots of dancing to the piano. Most of the kids auditioning were from the Goh's own studio so we didn't think much would come of this. The surprise came a few days later when Ariel got notice that she was selected! She is a lamb in act 2, and rehearsals start in September! All I can say is WOW!<br />
<br />

<br />
So that brings us to now.... we are having computer issues, grrr. Haven't solved what the issue is but working on it. Until then, hoping we can finish backing things up so we can deal with the issue.<br />
<br />
Oh, and we are getting 2 kittens.... more on that soon.HahaJayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14821787656180664339noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8053280.post-68311211475772564192014-01-18T13:44:00.000-08:002014-01-18T13:45:16.859-08:00Happy New YearWelcome to 2014... seems like 2013, haha.<br />
<br />
So where to start?<br />
<br />
Early December was some fun stuff. Ariel got to be in the Santa Claus Parade downtown, which was a blast but lots of work as we helped build the float the few weeks prior to the event.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-706z_da74hg/UtrrcFFxYPI/AAAAAAAAK_U/pOILCuY1fKQ/s1600/1486710_10152043232780979_843203999_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-706z_da74hg/UtrrcFFxYPI/AAAAAAAAK_U/pOILCuY1fKQ/s1600/1486710_10152043232780979_843203999_n.jpg" height="400" width="297" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We were thankful for no rain! The girls looked great and were so well behaved. We had lots of compliments on how nice they were. Dad and Rita came down to see Ariel on the float which was special too. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bWnrVPHzDRM/Utrm46Fg3KI/AAAAAAAAK9w/jirhqh5tV1Q/s1600/1472080_594445220610887_181975331_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bWnrVPHzDRM/Utrm46Fg3KI/AAAAAAAAK9w/jirhqh5tV1Q/s1600/1472080_594445220610887_181975331_n.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Shirley Temple Soda is now sponsoring National Canadian Girl for the parade over the next 2 years, and so they got to carry some on the float... and drink it afterwards. Ariel quite liked it... it was pink! LOL (this was taken by my friend Amber... leading to what happened next)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4KUfFTQ7VHU/Utrm4mkRzOI/AAAAAAAAK-I/lDEW15lUkLM/s1600/1525190_10152150024280917_1624837131_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4KUfFTQ7VHU/Utrm4mkRzOI/AAAAAAAAK-I/lDEW15lUkLM/s1600/1525190_10152150024280917_1624837131_n.jpg" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
The following weekend was the Christmas charity pageant, where the girls helped and we had a toy drive! It was then I was told that the soda company wanted to do a photo shoot with some of the girls for their new ads, and Ariel was picked as one of them!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GsH9-OPcx4A/UtroieC4tvI/AAAAAAAAK-k/qvFEuLAaE20/s1600/1473040_10152072888545979_2105062883_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GsH9-OPcx4A/UtroieC4tvI/AAAAAAAAK-k/qvFEuLAaE20/s1600/1473040_10152072888545979_2105062883_n.jpg" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So in the midst of the whirlwind of holiday fun, we had a photo shoot and these are some of the pictures they took. I will share the ad once its released. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lREV0Me2H88/Utrm5Ooc8kI/AAAAAAAAK-A/BwagXVrXRAE/s1600/1526185_10152157835110917_1949188832_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lREV0Me2H88/Utrm5Ooc8kI/AAAAAAAAK-A/BwagXVrXRAE/s1600/1526185_10152157835110917_1949188832_n.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Amber asked if I wanted to do a fun photo of Ariel and I said it be neat to capture her love of dance, and this is what happened... that is baby powder... oh the mess that followed but the photos from it were STUNNING!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0QvapBbUDH8/UtrnD7zf-WI/AAAAAAAAK-Q/p9_E99dQNqo/s1600/1495518_10152157756495917_1409398901_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0QvapBbUDH8/UtrnD7zf-WI/AAAAAAAAK-Q/p9_E99dQNqo/s1600/1495518_10152157756495917_1409398901_n.jpg" height="400" width="266" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Our Brownie troop had our enrollment ceremony, most of our girls are first year so it was very exciting. Here is Ariel's circle group the Fairies waiting to take their promise. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yRCsBppUKXE/Utr0ZrWu9LI/AAAAAAAALA4/rNVWvmBcCEs/s1600/DSC_1190a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yRCsBppUKXE/Utr0ZrWu9LI/AAAAAAAALA4/rNVWvmBcCEs/s1600/DSC_1190a.jpg" height="307" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The girls could work on badges but wouldn't get them until they were enrolled, so Ariel got a LOT that night. </div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My little Brownie. Congrats sweetie! I am looking forward to doing a post on my Brownie life and how its changed over the years compared to hers. I even have my Mom's old Brownie stuff. Look for that in the coming week.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
Both kid's had school performances, Ariel's class were angels, the play was about all the different traditions at Christmas, really awesome and its always nice to have a touch of 'the real meaning of Christmas' in a public school. Did I mention how much I love our school!!!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Xander had a speaking part at his preschool production, something he honestly dreads but worked hard for. He did great, saying his line and flashing a big thumbs up to us watching. I cried, it was a big moment for him and how far he has come. Great work shepherd #2</div>

<span style="text-align: left;">Then at church we the kids program. I don't have many pictures since I running around with the kids, but Ken got this video of the dance. This was a special one, Kara was due with baby of course and was sitting out and so we had Madi and Kate take over teaching and doing the choreography for the girls. Needless to say its a HUGE job and I am impressed with them. Easter is coming girls, and I know they are excited to do another dance!</span></div>

We had some crazy snow days, one on the last day of school before the break.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AX5d6F4BiMA/UtrjxFbamwI/AAAAAAAAK9M/PnydspLb1L8/s1600/DSC_1333a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AX5d6F4BiMA/UtrjxFbamwI/AAAAAAAAK9M/PnydspLb1L8/s1600/DSC_1333a.jpg" height="263" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Ariel's school had a skating field trip, and Xander decided he wasn't going to sit and watch. Thankfully Ariel pushed him around the ice several times. Reminds me of Ariel with his determination... way to go Xander!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4Jq0ySDWFDM/Utrya-sMRhI/AAAAAAAALAk/TbMCui2rA1k/s1600/1503841_10152083564160979_1758062885_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4Jq0ySDWFDM/Utrya-sMRhI/AAAAAAAALAk/TbMCui2rA1k/s1600/1503841_10152083564160979_1758062885_n.jpg" height="320" width="238" /></a></div>
<br />
Ariel's dance studio had a meet the snow queen photo day, and of course it landed on those few days we had crazy snow, but we went anyways and had a great time. Sounds like it was a great success and they will do it again next year.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1ah47ViqDKo/UtryatUhX7I/AAAAAAAALAo/tlZGFxrTwiE/s1600/1476332_10152087288190979_653624494_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1ah47ViqDKo/UtryatUhX7I/AAAAAAAALAo/tlZGFxrTwiE/s1600/1476332_10152087288190979_653624494_n.jpg" height="400" width="265" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Christmas was nice. Quiet, and simple this year. We had an early family celebration as it the year Dad and Rita spent it with her family. Deb and Blair joined us this year which was very special. It was also at that time that my pink eye had started. Yes, both eyes, with TERRIBLE pink eye. It hurt so bad, but didn't get to the worse stage until Christmas Eve of course. I managed to get through the discomfort as all of Ladner was out of the special medicated eye drops... yeah, awesome.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HlEyveWiMCc/UtrjwNltzXI/AAAAAAAAK9E/SNfrKS-b-qU/s1600/DSC_1148.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HlEyveWiMCc/UtrjwNltzXI/AAAAAAAAK9E/SNfrKS-b-qU/s1600/DSC_1148.JPG" height="400" width="263" /></a></div>
<br />
Christmas Eve also brought the news of Kara and Chris' daughter arrival. Much like our girly, Aubrey chose to arrive a tad late, but of course it was exciting to hear she finally came safe and sound. The Christmas Eve service was special, Ken had to film Ariel's special part since I couldn't see, lol, thanks pink eye. There is no greater joy than seeing your child serve the Lord, using their gifts.<br />
<br />
Christmas day the kids slept till past 8, and we all got up and slowly started with stockings and Santa gifts. We would eat, open a few things, then facetime with Ken's families during the course of the morning. The kids got some special treats. I had wanted to have more hands on gifts this year, so craft kits for Ariel, and paint and play doh for Xander. I had gotten a lot of the things brand new but second hand on our local swap and shop page. Ariel and I spent most of the holiday crafting, lots of rainbow loom bracelets, beaded animals, pom pom puppies and clay charms.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zVKuNtvqQX0/UtrjVRnUYpI/AAAAAAAAK80/ROgcmRio3mY/s1600/DSC_1483.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zVKuNtvqQX0/UtrjVRnUYpI/AAAAAAAAK80/ROgcmRio3mY/s1600/DSC_1483.JPG" height="400" width="263" /></a></div>
<br />
Xander is showing a very artistic side these days. He is quite the play doh sculptor and painter, so his new goodies are getting good use.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3W84EfcfgUE/UtrjUhdJewI/AAAAAAAAK8o/ijQjHOzpjfg/s1600/DSC_1481.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3W84EfcfgUE/UtrjUhdJewI/AAAAAAAAK8o/ijQjHOzpjfg/s1600/DSC_1481.JPG" height="263" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Meeko got his own stocking this year... can I point out that Ken and I didn't get ours finished, and the dog's is? 3rd child indeed! I made it from a pattern I found online. He liked the treats that came in it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-D1p4W4MCJGc/UtrjVCTgEHI/AAAAAAAAK8w/4cZAqRrgn5k/s1600/DSC_1291.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-D1p4W4MCJGc/UtrjVCTgEHI/AAAAAAAAK8w/4cZAqRrgn5k/s1600/DSC_1291.JPG" height="400" width="263" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Fast forward to January and a quiet new years eve, chinese food and early bedtimes for most, I stayed up playing with Ariel's loom, making a unicorn, haha. Fun times.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jVhGsmjAj48/UtrojILafMI/AAAAAAAAK-4/T-LOGVQf4Q0/s1600/553476_10152110458460979_624638892_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jVhGsmjAj48/UtrojILafMI/AAAAAAAAK-4/T-LOGVQf4Q0/s1600/553476_10152110458460979_624638892_n.jpg" height="400" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
Everyone went back to work and school and lift started rolling again. Xander decided to take a break from gymnastics and is trying out Hip Hop. He is REALLY enjoying it, and usually I am asked everyday if its hip hop day. Perhaps we will have 2 dancers in the family?!<br />
<br />
Ariel after lots of pleading the past few years, has finally started piano lessons. She is taking lessons with a lady from our church, and is loving it. Since we don't have a piano, we borrowed a keyboard for home and when we are at church for any reason during the week then she practices on the real piano. So far its working and honestly she is better at it than I ever was. Haha.<br />
<br />

<br />
I have been under mountains of paperwork lately. From kindergarten forms for Xander to booking camps for my Brownie troops, its been a tad nutty. Work has been busy too. Lots of cakes, to the point it sometimes makes my head spin. Sometimes when people come to pick up I need to ask what cake its for, that is how many I have been doing, haha.<br />

<br />
Wow, its been over a month, sorry. Its been busy here with the kids, hubby and doggy over the very full month of December! I am actually a little in shock its Christmas today!<br />
<br />
Its a quiet day for us this year. We had our family dinner last weekend and its just us four er five if you count Meeko. We have spent the day lounging, eating, opening gifts, facetime visiting with Ken's family and building toys. I just stuck the turkey in the oven for most likely a later dinner since we got a late start.<br />
<br />
I'll do a full recap of Christmas and stuff leading up to the big day maybe later tonight, but for now I will leave you with Ariel and her special moment at our Christmas Eve service at church last night, sharing what the real reason for the season is.<br />

We have only one week left and then we are on to CHRISTMAS time! Yay!<br />
<br />
Our past few weeks were filled with regular routine, add in Ken going on a business trip to LA for several days, Remembrance Day and lots of cakes... lots! The weekend Ken was gone turned out to be my busiest week, 9 orders, ack!<br />
<br />
My Brownie troop has been busy preparing for enrollment next week. Ariel has been enjoying working on badges, and she is excited to be finally getting most of them at the ceremony as she will finally be an official Brownie. She is a circle leader this year, we only had 2 second year girls, so we had to have some of our first years take on the big jobs.<br />
<br />

<div>
<br /></div>
We marched in the parade for Remembrance Day, thankful the day was actually some what warm and sunny. So proud of how many of our girls came too, I think we had the best turn out for Brownie units. Woot!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For the past several months we have been looking for the right bed for Xander's room. At first we thought a mate's bed would be good, but we realized that it wouldn't fit the space as we hoped and wouldn't be able to make it up to Xander's loft. I put out a request on the local swap and shop page on facebook and ended up getting contacted by a lady selling this bed and mattress for $90, which was perfect for our budget and allowed us to take Xander out to pick some fun new bedding. I got to pick the nice neutral comforter and he picked the Angry Bird sheets, haha. He was so excited the day it arrived, big thanks to John for helping with his truck. The first night the kids had a sleepover in his room, so cute.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I got invited to paint the library windows of Ariel's school again this year. The kids picked out the characters for me, and as usual it was a blast to do. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Glitz beauty wear, her cupcake dress fits her almost perfectly now. Only took 2 years! lol. I ordered a really cute present for Ariel for Christmas, I found a lady who can copy your pageant dress into a mini one for an American Girl doll. She is gonna flip!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Outfit of choice , her spacegirl routine. I had to modify her costume since she grew. Made the dress more of a tunic with shorts under, worked perfectly.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Finally, broadway dollwear, Seymour from Little Shop of Horrors. Ken is the puppet plant, and she got the best reaction from the crowd from this. </div>

<br />
In big news, next weekend Ariel will be in the big Roger's Santa Claus parade riding the float with her fellow royalty girls of National Canadian Girl. So today I spend a few hours helping work on the float. Its looking good, lots of pink! It will be televised the following weekend it looks like, so look for our girl! I'll be riding in the truck with a few moms, others are walking, I frankly don't want to be on tv, haha.<br />
<br />
Well I am looking forward to posting Christmas fun, so stay tuned!Jayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14821787656180664339noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8053280.post-88039469747915795622013-10-26T23:30:00.003-07:002013-10-26T23:30:51.310-07:00Fall FunIts been a fantastic fall thus far. Lots going on and keeping us busy and smiling as the weather gets cooler. We have had some crazy fog lately too, so thick, I don't remember having several days in a row like this before, and it lasts sometimes for the whole day! So wacky!<br />
<br />
We had a simple Thanksgiving over at Dad and Rita's. Before we left I snapped a few shots of the kids in their pumpkin outfits from last year that still fit, woot!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
The holiday weekend also marked our family visit to the pumpkin patch. We were having a great time until some crazy lady accused me of stealing her pumpkin... yeah no joke... she proceeded to take it from our bag and walk away... that was just WEIRD!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The following weekend was Ariel's big pageant! We got all packed up and checked into the hotel on Friday afternoon. Ariel was excited to see her friends and they had so much fun stuff planned that we were always busy. I am still waiting on the photos, so I will do another post when those come in. I will say that besides starting to get sick on Saturday, she did her best and won Mini Grand Supreme in the 4-9 year old group. It was a first time for her to get that high of a title, so it was very exciting! She won a beautiful crown, sash, trophy, gifts and $25 which she put towards a book at her school's book fair.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UR2rEGjtZ8M/UmyqM3GD64I/AAAAAAAAK6A/9zSDxV0-RZg/s1600/DSC_7357-X3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UR2rEGjtZ8M/UmyqM3GD64I/AAAAAAAAK6A/9zSDxV0-RZg/s640/DSC_7357-X3.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<br />
Mommy upon coming home had to spent the next few days sewing like crazy to finish the halloween costumes. They were pretty pleased with them as you can see. Done just in time for the local family event in the village on Thursday night.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-G_sCZU17GJA/Umyoj064DLI/AAAAAAAAK5o/VdmREmx8ncM/s1600/DSC_0286a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-G_sCZU17GJA/Umyoj064DLI/AAAAAAAAK5o/VdmREmx8ncM/s640/DSC_0286a.jpg" width="380" /></a></div>
<br />
Princess Leia... in the throne room dress, in case you are wondering where the 'buns' are. She liked this gown better, more her style. Haha.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
During dance this week its 'Halloween costume' week so for each class she has been wearing different outfits, depending on the class, as some are easier to dance in of course. Today for jazz she wore her cupcake fairy outfit, and I painted up her face. So pretty!</div>

<br />
Today I had 2 photoshoots, both went extremely well, and I had wonderful weather which is half the battle! I am pretty zonked now. We concluded the day with dinner at Mike and Jo's to celebrate Henry's upcoming 3rd birthday. It was nice to have dinner made after a busy day of working, so it was a treat for sure. We got home and Ken and the kids fell asleep in our bed reading Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. Thankfully I managed to wake at least Ken to carry everyone to their own beds, as I could have ended up on the couch.<br />
<br />
We have harvestfest this week at a local church where the kids do AWANAS. Looking forward to some fun with the kids. They have been really enjoying Cubbies and Sparkies. Ariel finished book 2 and is on to book 3 now. It was amazing to see her memorize Psalm 23, something I did around her age. I think she learned it faster than I did. Xander is nearly done book 1, and is already telling me how he will be a Sparkie next year. So proud of them and how its helping their spiritual walk.<br />

Here is the quick catch up on us all. I have finally found the 'fall rhythm' of school, activities and work. Its actually easier this year for some reason, no less busy but yet it seems to fit better... or I am just adjusting better. Who knows. Work hasn't slowed down, which is great, but I am somewhat looking forward to a break... probably Christmas ha! This weekend is brings to an end of 'wedding season' at least for now. I haven't had them come so late into the fall before, so that was different but all good. I am starting to get brides contacting me for next summer, and so begins the cycle.<br />
<br />
Brownies has been going well. I am finally getting the feeling like I am not totally scared and out of my 'zone'. The paperwork is coming together. I have been a whirlwind of trying to confirm particular wait-list girls into our unit, which is stressful since I am a pleaser and hate disappointing people. I know there are several girls who would love to transfer in but we are so full with 28 girls... yes you read that right. I am looking forward to the holiday monday and a night off... hmmm turkey! We have successfully sold all our cookies, 64 cases which I transported in our car, I should have taken a photo, it was a sight for sure. Meet my little cookie friends.... yep, I am nuts.<br />

Next week Ariel has her big pageant weekend. We have been busy building props, practicing routines and finishing up costume touches. My poor dinning table is covered with stuff, I do look forward to seeing it again once the event is done. Ariel has improved so much in her stage routines with facial expressions, it will be an exciting weekend no matter what happens. We are looking forward to a weekend with our girl friends, kinda a mini break for me, even though I work up till the time we leave, ack! I am eager to share our photos we had done but its all a surprise for next weekend so until its happened, here is another picture we had done of Ariel in her royalty crown and sash, thought these be cute for her room.<br />
<br />

<br />
The kids have been loving the AWANA program. Both are keeners and working hard each week to learn their verses. Ariel is blowing people away with her memory skills. She finished the first book in less than 3 weeks, and is half way through the second book. Since she is grade 2 and would only be a Spark this year, she can do all the books in one year. So she has one more to do and they are busy looking at extra stuff she can do because chances are she will be done in record time. She is really asking great questions about her faith from doing these too, its always wonderful to sit with them and go over verses. She just learned Psalm 23, which I remember learning around her age ... she learned it faster than I did. Xander LOVES the Cubbies program and looks forward to it all week. Its so cute when he has to wear his vest to bed, and when he earns a patch I have to have it sewed on by the next morning so he can admire his achievement. Pretty darn cute! He has nearly finished his first book too. So proud of the kids.<br />
<br />
Speaking of Xander, we had his first 'party day' at school, and he stood on the line, didn't sing but at least wasn't completely miserable. That is progress, haha. Daddy came too as it was the one they celebrated his birthday. He is very much my shy little guy, but don't be fooled, he has a dynamic personality he wants to share... on his own time.<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Also, as promised, here is miss Ariel in her Character skirt. Looking lovely and very grown up for ballet all of a sudden. Her second class she takes midweek has only 2 other girls so she is loving the extra attention and practice time. It will be very helpful next year when she does her first exam. She is really enjoying all her classes and the new steps. I got to watch the end of her production class tonight, eek! Love it... a hint, MJ!</div>
<br />

<br />
Finally here is the other 'baby' of the house. Yep, he grew... I think he is pretty much done now. He is pretty much the same size Lucas was. He is a bit of a dope right now but oh is he a cuddler. He is so wonderful with the kids, if we could just curb that craziness when people come to visit, he gets a tad excited... to say the least. He is lovely and we can't imagine life without him.... he is keeping my feet warm as I type. He is getting his special visit to the vet this month... we will see how much he loves me after that.<br />
<br />

<br />
What else has been happening? Xander had a dentist appointment. He loves the dentist, watching the tv in the ceiling is a highlight for him, and the treat at the end. Whose kid is sad to leave, mine apparently.<br />
<br />
We are hoping to go to the pumpkin patch this weekend while its sunny. Ariel is going with her class next week, so she is getting Meeko his first pumpkin. Hee. Lots of halloween stuff coming up... I need to get sewing. Want a hint to the theme this year.... here ya go! They are both excited... as is Daddy... not sure who is more, ha!<br />

I shared Xander started gymnastics again but Ariel had to wait till the end of the week till her stuff started again. She is dancing in 5 classes, and we started back with ballet. She is now in Grade 1 ballet, and that meant a new uniform for class. She is now in the navy blue with no skirt, and boy does that make them look older!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--fsx-DLYPxs/Uj58IwcULGI/AAAAAAAAK3A/ywqsdsry1UE/s1600/999852_10151856502755979_324410115_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--fsx-DLYPxs/Uj58IwcULGI/AAAAAAAAK3A/ywqsdsry1UE/s400/999852_10151856502755979_324410115_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
We just got her character skirt this week so I will post a photo with that next week. She is very excited to use the special shoes in class, haha. Ariel is really enjoying the lyrical class so far, and the production jazz class is going to be amazing!!! What can I say, if its dance, its great!<br />
<br />
We had our first Brownie troop meeting. Meet Brown owl... aka me. Yep, I took on a pile of crazy, but its all good. Still finding my footing with everything, but just trying to sort out our numbers at this point. Trying to get all the girls on the waitlist in. So many things to understand paperwork wise... makes my head spin a bit.<br />
<br />

<br />
This year the kids are able to take AWANAS, something that I always thought would be great if it every worked for us, finally this year it did! Ariel is a Spark and Xander a Cubby, both earned their vests the following week working hard at learning their verses. Ariel is great at memorizing stuff, but this was a first for Xander to really see him work at something. Oh he wanted that vest so badly. When I came to pick him up I watched him glow with pride when his name was called for learning 4 verses and getting that vest and program book, and cute bag to boot! I wish I could have captured that smile, this was so awesome for him. This quick and silly photo coming home sums up his glee.<br />
<br />

<br />
Happy Spark! Ariel has been working hard this week and is up to 9 verses memorized... a sponge I tell ya! I remember when my brain was that good, haha.<br />
<br />

<br />
Ariel's school had its open house and meet the teacher night. We got to see her new classroom and meet her lovely teacher. She is settling in well and we will see how things go.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
What else to say... um, oh, we have Halloween costumes picked, Mommy has to start sewing soon. Ariel is working hard for her upcoming pageant, lots of practicing and Xander is her faithful audience... and harsh judge too I might add. She has a new routine for Broadway doll that is amazing. Grandpa is building her prop, costume is done, she got her photos done, so we moving in the right direction.<br />
<br />
Ok, its time to call it a day. I delivered 2 wedding cakes today, so that was someone exhausting. Sleep now....zzzzJayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14821787656180664339noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8053280.post-17808381925957718582013-09-09T22:25:00.001-07:002013-09-09T22:25:17.447-07:00New School Year!So as of today, both kids are now back at school! We survived, woot! As the rest of this week rolls out so do the start of activities and such, so once that happens we will be groovin'. Yes I really just said that. Haha.<br />
<br />
Last week we saw our princess start grade 2! It was a slow week as we didn't get her class and teacher assigned until Thursday morning. Nothing funnier than watching parents stand around outside because they know its FINALLY happening and peaking in windows to see who the kids got. Ariel was going to be in either a 1/2 split or a 2/3. Of course there were pros and cons to both options and when it finally was announced she was in the 1/2. The good things, the class teacher is wonderful, I hear only fantastic things about her. Ariel REALLY wanted her as her teacher last year, so its nice she gets to have her. The hard side of things, she is a small group of her peers again. She was 1 of 8 last year with 11 kindergarten students in the K/1 split, and this year she is 1 of 9 grade 2s with 15 grade 1s. So another year with a small peer group, and she really misses being with a lot of those kids as the other group is primarily a grade 2 class with a few grade 3s. With a small school we totally knew these are things we would deal with, and we totally understand, but its hard to get picked 2 years solid to be in the smaller group.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4Lagw9OIwN8/Ui6rgsjmCjI/AAAAAAAAK1s/R2l-X1j4yoc/s1600/DSC_9887a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4Lagw9OIwN8/Ui6rgsjmCjI/AAAAAAAAK1s/R2l-X1j4yoc/s400/DSC_9887a.jpg" width="263" /></a></div>
<br />
Ariel is a great kid who generally thrives with whatever situation she is given, however the first few days she was a tad sad, and it was totally transition. She was frustrated with the noise when trying to work, and I kept assuring her the younger ones would settle soon. This week seems to be better and I am sure as things go on it will be a wonderful experience for her. She is such a leader and younger kids just love her. I had parents tonight from the new kindergarten groups telling me how their kids talked about her and the impression she left on them, makes me a proud momma.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
She is looking so grown up these days, and that first adult front tooth is finally coming in so her looks are going to change so much this year.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xKA5fcsT9sA/Ui6rbz3mMII/AAAAAAAAK1U/KgpAHUgEsKA/s1600/DSC_9926a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xKA5fcsT9sA/Ui6rbz3mMII/AAAAAAAAK1U/KgpAHUgEsKA/s400/DSC_9926a.jpg" width="263" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Dance starts this week, so expect photos next time as we start those up, yay!<br /><br />
Xander started today his last year of preschool. He had one new teacher in his class as one of his teachers last year isn't working full time this year. He handled it beautifully and I know her as a fellow dance mom from our studio. Small world!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
This year was so different for Xander, he walked into class and didn't look back. No tears, stress and he was ready. Amazing how much they grow in a few months. I will admit he was a bit bummed not to be at Ariel's school this year.... one more year, soon... which I do look forward to just for drop off sake and not having to rush to another place within minutes. He had a great class and was excited about show and tell starting soon. I am so proud of my little man.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Today was also Xander's first day back at gymnastics and boy did he have a great time. Colin is in his class again and they are having lots of fun. He loved his new shirt they gave him... can you tell?<br />

We are thankful for our children's amazing teachers and feel blessed they get to be in wonderful schools. As parents we are praying for a good year for both of them.<br />

It was a simple party, Xander just wanted kids to come over and play in his room, have cake, read his birthday book and have a good time. The boy has had in his head that he was having an Angry Bird party for over a year. In fact I think after his last birthday he announced it, well he got it and it was perfect for him.<br />
<br />
Eagerly awaiting his guests to arrive!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q7NFcZOITXw/Ui6vuqhgGNI/AAAAAAAAK2Q/6zLC3rcwPd4/s1600/DSC_9996.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q7NFcZOITXw/Ui6vuqhgGNI/AAAAAAAAK2Q/6zLC3rcwPd4/s400/DSC_9996.JPG" width="263" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Angry Bird cake, this was fun to make. Xander watched me the WHOLE time I made it. He even drew a picture of what he wanted it to look like. Haha. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7c5imR_wX4Q/Ui6xMRmG7RI/AAAAAAAAK2c/AKg2VeJN07I/s1600/DSC_9978a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7c5imR_wX4Q/Ui6xMRmG7RI/AAAAAAAAK2c/AKg2VeJN07I/s400/DSC_9978a.jpg" width="282" /></a></div>
<br />
This photo makes me realize how much he has grown up this summer. Wow, seems so big here!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IVRg5RDbPIM/Ui6veVn5yoI/AAAAAAAAK14/NJtNMIgN644/s1600/DSC_0009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IVRg5RDbPIM/Ui6veVn5yoI/AAAAAAAAK14/NJtNMIgN644/s400/DSC_0009.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We read his new book we wrote for him called 'Xander Man' - as he is into superheros these days. Then we watched his photo video... he picked out Beatles music for it. He sang along while the video played, super cute!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/OYYvXIpMC6o" width="420"></iframe><br />
<br />
Our present to him was a second hand bike, its perfect and just a tad big so he will be able to grow well into it. He also got some Angry Bird stuff, books and money.<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Our guests left and Dad and Rita stuck around for dinner with us, so we made up an Angry Bird pizza. Well that rocked his world! I saw it on pinterest and it was so easy but his face was priceless. </div>

Happy Birthday little man, I can't believe how fast you are growing up. Slow down a bit... for Mommy. Hehe.</div>

Wow, it came fast after several weeks of craziness work, fun times with the family and a few birthdays. So going to do a quick catch up and then on to what is happening in the next few weeks!<br />
<br />
First off we celebrated Ariel's official 7th birthday on the 14th. Its amazing that our first born is already 7... that seemed to happen so fast. She has had an amazing year and we are eager to see what this one brings our little social butterfly. She is so excited for school to start that she is driving us all a bit crazy. I guess its a good problem to have. I did a little look back at her over the past 7 years, such a cutie!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aVNdP5TbeGk/UiTBTtn-8WI/AAAAAAAAKy4/LK0BJzfq3uI/s1600/ariel+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="293" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aVNdP5TbeGk/UiTBTtn-8WI/AAAAAAAAKy4/LK0BJzfq3uI/s640/ariel+7.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
The weekend of her birthday we decided to take a trip down to Seattle for some outlet shopping as Ken needed some new work clothes and Ariel had money to spend at American Girl from her birthday. Ariel and I had a fun time having lunch in the bistro, getting her doll a new hair do (including a tiara which she was most excited about so the doll can be royalty like her)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kU1571giOt0/UiTGl9BO7xI/AAAAAAAAKzM/JUeJeTrt4CY/s1600/1151009_10151801563475979_993030136_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kU1571giOt0/UiTGl9BO7xI/AAAAAAAAKzM/JUeJeTrt4CY/s400/1151009_10151801563475979_993030136_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
During our flower pot pudding desserts, they sang happy birthday and gave her a candle. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qMPsnbyTFV4/UiTGluzNqkI/AAAAAAAAKzI/LinBw2EbFOY/s1600/1173666_10151801561745979_1715077691_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qMPsnbyTFV4/UiTGluzNqkI/AAAAAAAAKzI/LinBw2EbFOY/s400/1173666_10151801561745979_1715077691_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Following our AG time we met up with the boys and got clothes for Ken. This was also our first trip down using our our Nexus cards. Can I say how much I enjoyed driving across both times at the border in minutes vs sitting in our car for over an hour. Worth every penny!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We had a chance to see Ken's cousin Bobby and his wife Kate when they came up briefly for a visit while on a vacation. All of us went to dinner in Vancouver and had a great visit. We don't get many of Ken's family in our neck of the woods so it was very special. Then a few days later Ken's Aunt Nancy, Uncle Bill and cousin Trevor were in town briefly as they boarded a cruise ship, due to schedules I couldn't get the kids downtown early for breakfast so Ken went and had a lovely visit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-g4s4irpKJd8/UiTII8N_IqI/AAAAAAAAKzc/RerRZJQiDFY/s1600/527044_10151793721495979_1981232585_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="297" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-g4s4irpKJd8/UiTII8N_IqI/AAAAAAAAKzc/RerRZJQiDFY/s400/527044_10151793721495979_1981232585_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Some other exciting things to share. We found a second hand bike for Ariel on the Ladner Swap page. Brand new, used twice for $50. Ariel was so excited, as her old bike was too small for her now. Every night Ken would take her to the park to practice riding it and she is now a pro... but had one minor setback one evening when she wore her flip flops and caught her toe. This resulted in lots of blood under the nail bed, and there was no way she was going to let me do the make a hole and drain it. So it looks like she may lose the nail and need to grow a new one, it feels loose, but we will find out soon enough what happens. Upon telling her what would happen she actually took it really well. Live and learn.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ko3qucRcC0E/UiTIqUwdGcI/AAAAAAAAKz8/y9RvZPh9IJg/s1600/560809_10151803144750979_1080933619_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ko3qucRcC0E/UiTIqUwdGcI/AAAAAAAAKz8/y9RvZPh9IJg/s320/560809_10151803144750979_1080933619_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ariel also got her royalty jacket! She was very excited to finally have it and wear it to events. We have a big pageant in October that she is practicing for. Its a broadway theme and she has an amazing new routine that is going to be so cool, but I can't share until afterwards as its a suprise. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N4XYcIHJRrc/UiTIqDePR6I/AAAAAAAAKzk/3tfCd-8kD64/s1600/1173877_10151813540930979_1262221160_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-N4XYcIHJRrc/UiTIqDePR6I/AAAAAAAAKzk/3tfCd-8kD64/s320/1173877_10151813540930979_1262221160_n.jpg" width="238" /></a></div>
<br />
The quilt and car show came to town again and our friend Tessa's Dad had a car both kids loved... wonder why eh? Xander felt like he was meeting a celebrity. He was totally amazed by it, and it makes up for the fact we won't be going to Disneyland this fall now. We need to wait as Xander is too short for the McQueen ride by 3 inches, so hoping next fall.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-12zVHUkG4FE/UiTIq7khcJI/AAAAAAAAKz4/Y-iwBxethO8/s1600/954794_10151799739497559_1609151947_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-12zVHUkG4FE/UiTIq7khcJI/AAAAAAAAKz4/Y-iwBxethO8/s400/954794_10151799739497559_1609151947_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ariel is starting grade one ballet this year, which means new shoes for class. She still uses her regular ballet ones but will start character work this year and needed the character shoes and skirt. We are hoping to get the character skirt at the swap but if not, Mommy will be sewing one. Can you tell how excited she is for heels! So she will be doing 2 ballet classes, in preparation for exams next year. This year she will take part in a 'presentation' which is like an exam but not as strict. Gives the girls a chance to experience what it will be like and what to expect. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-84509duEDq8/UiTIqfMobWI/AAAAAAAAKz0/NPmFUbTbElw/s1600/1233607_10151822760195979_61736244_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-84509duEDq8/UiTIqfMobWI/AAAAAAAAKz0/NPmFUbTbElw/s400/1233607_10151822760195979_61736244_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
Along with ballet she is doing 2 jazz classes, one is her competition group from last year and the other is a new competition group which is a mix of older girls and younger girls for a production number. Very exciting. Then finally she is adding lyrical this year, which she is most excited about. After getting our copy of the recital dvd from the spring, we really do see how much this is her gift. She shines on stage, and I am thankful we can let her grow in this.<br />
<br />
Then it was time to celebrate our little man's birthday. He turned the big 4 and wow has he grown this past summer.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--mxeo43yI_c/UiTNkGFoFsI/AAAAAAAAK0M/Zr0E6FKKWtQ/s1600/6770_142920605978_4365957_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="288" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--mxeo43yI_c/UiTNkGFoFsI/AAAAAAAAK0M/Zr0E6FKKWtQ/s400/6770_142920605978_4365957_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
We are having his party with his friends soon but in the meantime we had a mini family celebration at Dad and Rita's. Xander got a new scooter, pretty excited I think.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EDcwFfozBp0/UiTPEGgD5PI/AAAAAAAAK0c/YVMYdkd8KYA/s1600/1157752_10151821121925979_883330893_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EDcwFfozBp0/UiTPEGgD5PI/AAAAAAAAK0c/YVMYdkd8KYA/s400/1157752_10151821121925979_883330893_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Xander is also ready to go back to school. He has been doing lots with his letters and numbers this summer. He can now spell his name out loud which is awesome... and in his spare time he likes to try on dog Halloween costumes... yep that is our boy!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dTgokcyQoqA/UiTPEFGbeuI/AAAAAAAAK0Y/thl5HDfMV_w/s1600/1185048_10151822535805979_134527757_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dTgokcyQoqA/UiTPEFGbeuI/AAAAAAAAK0Y/thl5HDfMV_w/s400/1185048_10151822535805979_134527757_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
Speaking of Halloween costumes, the kids have decided what the theme is this year. I will say its actually easier for me, so that is a plus... so I will be starting those soon.<br />
<br />
Yesterday we did a massive clean up in Xander's room, rearranged things and sold a bunch of toys on the swap page. Xander was very excited and loves the changes, which give him more room to play.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gUVtfUyvmS0/UiTQw64idzI/AAAAAAAAK00/-RUeBTYc7tE/s1600/room2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gUVtfUyvmS0/UiTQw64idzI/AAAAAAAAK00/-RUeBTYc7tE/s400/room2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
We are starting to look for a big boy bed for his room. He has said he doesn't want the car anymore, so I am trying to find something that would work well. Maybe a mates bed with the storage underneath. Either way, it will be fun to start looking. He is really growing up fast too these days.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-K-dMlnMKOc0/UiTQwHJD0bI/AAAAAAAAK0s/v5VR5O1k5RQ/s1600/room.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-K-dMlnMKOc0/UiTQwHJD0bI/AAAAAAAAK0s/v5VR5O1k5RQ/s400/room.jpg" width="298" /></a></div>
<br />
So this week Ariel starts school and then next week Xander does, and activities start again. I will be taking some photos, not just phone ones, yep I have been lazy, but I was enjoying my time this summer vs trying to capture everything perfectly. I am excited for fall and cooler days. I have more to say but I need to get going so I will blog soon, bye!<br />
<br />Jayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14821787656180664339noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8053280.post-76860804121034795262013-08-06T23:51:00.002-07:002013-08-06T23:53:54.601-07:00Mini Break!Well we managed to get away for a few days... I can't recall the last time that happened for awhile! On Sunday morning we left to drive Ariel up to Camp Squeah for her mini camp of 2 nights. Meeko went to spend the weekend with Dad and Rita (thank you!). We loaded up the car and made our way up to Hope. I can't remember the last time I was up that way, its been awhile for sure.<br />
<br />
We drove for an hour listening to Adventure in Odyssey cds, so glad the kids enjoy them as much as I do. Ken got his first listen to them and quite liked them too. In Abbotsford we stopped for lunch at Red Robins, so thing we don't have close to us so it was a fun treat. Ariel thought she died and went to heaven with the cheesy macaroni. Another hour on the road and we made it to Hope and to the camp.<br />
<br />
As we drove in we saw a huge painted sign saying 'Fellowship of the King' which of course caught my Lord of the Rings loving husband. Sure enough it was the theme of the camp that summer.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mMd9TyLrt2E/UgHlBy3po-I/AAAAAAAAKwk/-U8wIdqpnWc/s1600/DSC_9640.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mMd9TyLrt2E/UgHlBy3po-I/AAAAAAAAKwk/-U8wIdqpnWc/s400/DSC_9640.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Registration was fast and Ariel was assigned to cabin 'Daisy'. We grabbed her gear and made our way over the the cute cabins. This was my first experience to Squeah, as I was always a camper/leader at Camp Tulahead which was up in Princeton. I was going in as blind as Ariel was, but there was something very warm and inviting about this camp. We then saw a familar face standing on the deck of the cabin, Sarah! Ariel smiled and ran up the stairs, as she knew Sarah from our church. She had told Ariel she was at Squeah this summer and I wonder if she got Ariel put into her cabin, but either way it was a fun surprise.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-764K1yYbkMg/UgHj7Z0QRxI/AAAAAAAAKwU/D0Yd6HTY3vw/s1600/DSC_9438.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-764K1yYbkMg/UgHj7Z0QRxI/AAAAAAAAKwU/D0Yd6HTY3vw/s400/DSC_9438.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Ariel picked a top bunk, something she always wanted to try.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7n6wtaWJkY0/UgHj5Rb6U9I/AAAAAAAAKwM/4UzaJwEKOYM/s1600/DSC_9434.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7n6wtaWJkY0/UgHj5Rb6U9I/AAAAAAAAKwM/4UzaJwEKOYM/s400/DSC_9434.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
It was then time to say goodbye. She was fine, a bit reserved and goofy which is her way of being nervous. We drove away and I was misty, it was hitting me how big this was. Thankfully we didn't have far to drive to get to Chilliwack to where we were staying a few days. However it took longer than we thought as we hit a huge line of traffic. Ken checked his phone on twitter and discovered there had been a huge accident, and so we ended up waiting over an hour shuffling along. When we saw the car involved finally it didn't look good for whoever was driving it... very sad, praying they were ok.<br />
<br />
I had a free hotel stay from doing work for a tourism fellow. He has said it was old fashioned and under most cases that would have been fun for me, but when traveling with a 3 year old that doesn't always work. Our room was super cute, but it was TINY. 2 small rooms connected but no floor space at all, and no tub but a very small shower, which Xander won't go near at all. It just wasn't going to work for the little guy, so Ken went down to see if we could get a different room. They had another that was better but didn't have any charm like the other room, so it was function over cute. It had 2 beds in the same room and more floor space and a tub. It felt really warm and we discovered over the course of the next 2 days the 'a/c' wasn't so good... it was cooler in the hallway. Sigh... oh well, it was free. We also were in a pretty old part of town, we actually didn't realize until the last night that going over the overpass would take you into the new part with what would have been some better options for us. Again, oh well.<br />
<br />
The first night we found a small place for dinner, and it wasn't too bad. We had fun joking about snails as we tried escargot for the first time. If you have seen Steve Martin's the Jerk then you would get our humor. Haha. I got a great photo of Xander and Ken with the snails via my phone. Tee hee!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ucdE6Win-zI/UgHjkCNSt0I/AAAAAAAAKwE/O5NR-qWZEwA/s1600/67658_10151771232102559_1707139703_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ucdE6Win-zI/UgHjkCNSt0I/AAAAAAAAKwE/O5NR-qWZEwA/s400/67658_10151771232102559_1707139703_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next morning was the holiday Monday so most things were closed. I had managed to find online a cute farm not too far away doing a 'brunch' as a holiday special. So we headed down in hopes of some fun and adventure. Well when we arrived we were not disappointed! Simply, IT WAS AMAZING! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DTZhKLCnqwU/UgHoX0W3JgI/AAAAAAAAKxM/OOWBXjtF02Q/s1600/DSC_9483.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DTZhKLCnqwU/UgHoX0W3JgI/AAAAAAAAKxM/OOWBXjtF02Q/s400/DSC_9483.JPG" width="263" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They had cute tables set up under a tent with hay bales to sit on and cut flowers making it pretty and colorful. They had beautiful tea cups set out to pick from, oh had we found something perfect for me! Haha. They had another tent set up and when you walked through it was filled with farm grown goodness. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This farm's specialty was cheese, and had lots of goats and cows, so they had so many wonderful cheeses, it was so so so good. Then lots of homemade bread, jams, honey, butter, yogurt, salads with feta and goat cheese, quiches, potato salad, ham, water buffalo, smokies, berries, whipping cream and shortcakes, pies and chocolate cupcakes. Everything was made by hand, on this farm. The ham was the most moist thing I have ever had. The cream for my tea was stunning. We ate ourselves silly... seriously we didn't eat again till dinner. Xander had lots too and he was free as he was under age 6, score!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After we finished we got to see the animals and that was probably Xander's favorite part. He cried when it was time to say goodbye to the kitty and the goats. Our little animal lover.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next up was a trip to Minter Gardens. We hadn't been since Natalie and Peter's wedding so it was a treat to go again before it closes this October. It gave Xander a great opportunity to run, and Mommy to take photos. It was relaxing to shoot flowers and just stroll through the gardens. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We were pretty tired after all our walking and headed back to the hotel and got a blizzard on the way, yum. By the time it was dinner time and we could think about eating again, we found out about other restaurants on the other side of the overpass. We made our way and Xander picked tacos. In typical fashion they handed Ken our order, only it wasn't our order but someone else's, so they gave us ours but told us to keep that order too... so we had a crazy amount of taco stuff now. We bagged most of it up and enjoyed taco treats through out the evening. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next morning we checked out and made our way to find pancakes, again Xander's choice. Then we got on the road to camp to pick up our girly. We got to watch the closing with some songs, a cute slide show and quick info on what had happened during their time there. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-n7iRjl_k31Y/UgHr3_Au7jI/AAAAAAAAKyc/kTIpmn8HetY/s1600/DSC_9646.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-n7iRjl_k31Y/UgHr3_Au7jI/AAAAAAAAKyc/kTIpmn8HetY/s320/DSC_9646.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ariel then came over to find us and Xander hugged her like crazy. He really had missed her, even to the point where he carried his toy phone those few days in case she would call him. Too sweet! We picked up a t-shirt and started the journey home. Ariel telling us all about her adventures. She was sad, probably a mix of tired and things coming to an end. She is eager for next summer now, its amazing how much they can grow in such a short time... she felt older when we picked her up. Wow.</div>

So that ends our mini vacation, hope you enjoyed getting a small insight to our trip, but now its time for bed, I have lots of cakes to make this week.Jayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14821787656180664339noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8053280.post-29602887811928946162013-08-03T17:02:00.000-07:002013-08-03T17:02:13.615-07:00Last Month of SummerHello August, you came quickly! Before you know it will be September and back to school for the kids. This month is filled with wedding orders, birthdays and a few family visits. Should be a wonderful month of fun!<br />
<br />
We survived the 4th summer of the Imagine That Arts Camp, and had a record number of kids come, 135 I believe was the final headcount. Its always tiring but so inspiring to live such an intense week of art. We had both Ariel and Xander take part as well. Xander in the preschool class and Ariel too mixed media and sewing. They loved their time there and it was great to see such a different Xander at camp this time, taking part and making stuff vs not making stuff, haha. We look forward to next year and enjoy our rest... ahh.<br />

<br />
The Saturday following the camp was Ariel's birthday party with her friends. Ariel had wanted a ballet themed party, and wanted Auntie Kara to come and teach her friends, so once we compared schedules the only weekend that worked for both of us was that one Saturday after camp. At the time I always forget how tired I am after camp, but we managed to pull it off.... although there were tears about 1130pm the Friday night following the Celebration Night for camp as I was trying to make Ariel's cake last minute. After a short moment of 'ack' things started falling into place and the cake was done and the scene set.<br />
<br />
Ariel awoke the next morning and LOVED her cake.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pSNgsOJhEsc/Uf2IQGAu24I/AAAAAAAAKuE/tDuOIeIgrh4/s1600/DSC_9305a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pSNgsOJhEsc/Uf2IQGAu24I/AAAAAAAAKuE/tDuOIeIgrh4/s400/DSC_9305a.jpg" width="271" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Our theme was snowflake ballerinas, after I had seen a beautiful craft of making a ballerina with a snowflake skirt... it was the whole inspiration for the party theme....but I realized that I forgot to make it, so that stunk as it tied everything together, as its kinda odd to think snow with ballet, oh well. Something to laugh about.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I pulled out some stuff from my Christmas stuff and kept things simple and sweet. The ballerina with the snowflake skirt was to hang from the light... doh... maybe I can photoshop it in, haha.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The girls arrived, dressed in the blue tutus we had gotten for them to wear. I made little head pieces for them to add to the fun. Its amazing how much they have grown since last year. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
Auntie Kara brought her pointe shoes for the girls to try on, Ariel was thrilled!!!<br />

<br />
A pretty special party indeed! Kara helped choreograph a cute dance for them to perform and tape, which I emailed to the parents following the party. A big thank you to Kara for making Ariel's 7th birthday so special!<br />
<br />

Ariel got her present from us early, Saige, the new American Girl doll she was longing for. The girl loves her dolls.<br />
<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uXHLZqw_vH4/Uf2I_fsW3tI/AAAAAAAAKu0/EqDo3j9AkI0/s1600/DSC_9397.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uXHLZqw_vH4/Uf2I_fsW3tI/AAAAAAAAKu0/EqDo3j9AkI0/s400/DSC_9397.JPG" width="263" /></a></div>
<br />
Then on Sunday morning we had our Art's service. Kara had worked with a group of our church's girls for the past several Wednesday evenings for a dance presentation. Most of the girls don't have much dance background but they did such an amazing job, it was so awesome! Do watch the video, it will make you smile.<br />

Ariel is excited about her jacket, I'll post photos when it arrives. They are super cute! As for now, we are just packing her up for her 2 night mini camp experience. When did she get to be old enough to go to camp?! <br />
<br />
Ok, off to finish the laundry... whee!<br />

<br />
First off, I had a crazy Star Wars themed wedding cake for a friend from church. It was pretty funny to deliver something so 'different' to a fancy place like the Vancouver yacht club, haha. Anyhoo, they loved it and it was the start of the real start of wedding season. I have almost every weekend booked in August for weddings, crazy!<br />

Ariel did swimming lessons at the pool for 2 weeks and passed swim kids 6!!! Wow, she is such a crazy strong swimmer for such a tiny thing. She was the only girl in a class of 5 big boys who towered over her. She worked hard and was excited when she found out she passed with flying colors. She is going to give swim kids 7 a try in August, she loves a challenge so it should be fun.<br />

The Tour de Delta was in town again for another bike race filled evening of fun. We always enjoy going and this year Ariel was old enough to ride in the kids race. Some of her friends from school rode too so it was a great night out, and she got a free dinner at the end of the race including a cute medal. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Then it was VBS time! This year Xander was able to go and was SOOOO excited. It was a wild west theme and there was lots of yee-haws around our place for the week. Both kids had friends from school in their classes so that was really nice. I must say I enjoyed the mornings off for a week. It was a small taste of what is coming in a short year once Xander starts kindergarten. Wow.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t3AIfx9OEPI/Ue3d2AmrBAI/AAAAAAAAKsE/5qUBKJpQgD0/s1600/DSC_9228a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="292" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t3AIfx9OEPI/Ue3d2AmrBAI/AAAAAAAAKsE/5qUBKJpQgD0/s400/DSC_9228a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
During that week we had a big of a scare. Meeko went in for his 3rd set of shots and everything seemed fine until late afternoon. While enjoying a visit from Maureen and Andrea, Meeko's face started swelling up. His eyes looked puffy and before I knew it, his eyes were so swollen they shut and his muzzle was 3 times the size it should be. Maureen stayed with the kids while I ran Meeko over to the vet. Seems like he was having an allergic reaction, most likely from the rabies shot. They gave him some benadryal and kept him for an hour to watch him. Thankfully it seemed to work and we got to take him home. He was groggy but good. He had to have a few more pills over the next few days and was finally back to normal.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ariel had a big pageant coming up and she needed some new photos so I took her out for headshots but was having so much fun we did some shots down at the beach by the ferry terminal during sunset. This is one of my favs of the night.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

In the end this was the shot we got and I was super happy with it.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ariel had been raising money for Children's hospital for her pageant and in the end raised $1286.50 which was thrilling for her. When VBS ened on the Friday at noon, we picked her up with the suitcases already packed and Ken took us to our hotel. We checked in and Ariel met for a short meeting with her coach Megan for a quick run through of her routines. That evening was just the interview portion so the girls got into her shirts and whites and were ready to go. Ariel's white shoes were too small but we couldn't find any in her size so she wore flip flops until the last minute when she had to put them on. Thankfully she was a trooper and you couldn't tell, but its time to find new ones soon!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BrizxIeLPy0/Ue3lHEtKpOI/AAAAAAAAKtA/MtK3HAeGqFE/s1600/374385_10151744885390979_1679535424_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BrizxIeLPy0/Ue3lHEtKpOI/AAAAAAAAKtA/MtK3HAeGqFE/s400/374385_10151744885390979_1679535424_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That night the girls all went swimming and had a wonderful time. The next morning was full day of competition, starting with beauty with personal intros. With natural pageants there is no make up and only simple hair so its pretty relaxed. Its more about public speaking and basic walks, so we just tend to get to enjoy the day more without running around. Ariel did great on her intro and it really started her off on a strong foot. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She did casual wear, then on to commercial and speech arts. For commercial she did a cinnamon toast crunch ad, which was really cute. Speech arts was something we wrote together about her observations about coffee and parents. Well she had the room laughing pretty hard and then we just had to wait. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The evening was the carnival and lots of fun for the girls. They had a recording booth and Ariel and pal Emma recorded a Taylor Swift song. She got lots of little trinkets and goodies from the games and ate lots of treats. A fun time indeed!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The next morning we headed to crowning. First off Ariel was named Miss Congeniality by her peers which was really special. She also won best headshot for her age group too, woot for me! They started doing the age groups and finally got to hers and my stomach was in knots. It was a tight group and 3 of the girls were really fantastic and I couldn't pick who would win. The group got smaller and smaller then was down to those 3 girls, including Ariel. The announced the first runner up and then it was just 2... they announced the Petite Miss BC title which was the other girl and then it hit me, SHE WON! I started crying, I was so excited for her, and she was just smiling away totally thrilled. Then the director announced she had the highest score of the WHOLE PAGEANT! That is when my legs went to jelly, I don't remember much but coming up to help her off stage with her arm load of gifts and prizes. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We had our own moment on the size of the stage and totally missed the next age crowning. Her friend Emma who won last year (Ariel was runner up to her) was so excited for her, now they were both in the royalty family. Ariel has her title for a year and then will crown the new girl next year. She gets to help at events, will have a uniform like Emma's to wear during the year, and gets a cute jacket with her title and name on it. She has to keep her sash and crown safe during the year so I am out looking for a special box to keep them in. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7Pg2EiEEgGI/Ue3lGyOXgcI/AAAAAAAAKs8/yPm3XDSYKhQ/s1600/75801_10151746596355979_70506609_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7Pg2EiEEgGI/Ue3lGyOXgcI/AAAAAAAAKs8/yPm3XDSYKhQ/s400/75801_10151746596355979_70506609_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
Following the crowning the new royalty had to stay for photos and get into their whites. I am looking forward to the year ahead as we get to get to know the rest of the royalty moms of this new group, some of which we are already good friends with. We got our score sheets and saw that Ariel was almost getting perfect scores in every area, it was amazing, she has grown so much in a year. So proud of her and her hard work! Way to go baby!<br />

Oh right we had end of school events, dance recitals, a crazy amount of cake orders and Ken was in New York.... yep that is what happened.<br />
<br />
So back tracking, we saw the end of the school year for both kids. First up was Xander, who has not only grown so much in his personality and skills but height wise too... check out that picture!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kKusmz5gy9Q/UdWr6GlKvgI/AAAAAAAAKqE/jW9BLgHl0B0/s960/1013974_10151690679845979_984777740_n+(1).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kKusmz5gy9Q/UdWr6GlKvgI/AAAAAAAAKqE/jW9BLgHl0B0/s400/1013974_10151690679845979_984777740_n+(1).jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
His teachers were emotional talking of his progress this year and how he ended with a bang standing up with his friends and singing part of a song, which he "HATES" to do in front of people. I was so proud and he was too, I could tell.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-auOIRtQJ3i0/UdWsvmNSBtI/AAAAAAAAKqs/7br_-l1B9CA/s1600/DSC_8046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-auOIRtQJ3i0/UdWsvmNSBtI/AAAAAAAAKqs/7br_-l1B9CA/s400/DSC_8046.JPG" width="263" /></a></div>
<br />
We are sad one of his teachers won't be working in his class next year, so praying its a smooth transition for him meeting someone new.<br />
<br />
Ariel's end of school first came with sports day with a super hero theme. She loved that and we painted a mask on her face for the fun day.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DCWuA8NDN4w/UdWs2-G9FRI/AAAAAAAAKq0/EEq_iDLjQ-Y/s960/1012162_10151682191245979_1671912865_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DCWuA8NDN4w/UdWs2-G9FRI/AAAAAAAAKq0/EEq_iDLjQ-Y/s320/1012162_10151682191245979_1671912865_n.jpg" width="238" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
She was excited to be on the same team as her older friends from church. Ken took the day off to help with Xander so I could enjoy the time with her.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BfboxHgxKRw/UdWs9IITOAI/AAAAAAAAKq8/OcZXySftqlU/s960/1043993_10151683181020979_574278030_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BfboxHgxKRw/UdWs9IITOAI/AAAAAAAAKq8/OcZXySftqlU/s320/1043993_10151683181020979_574278030_n.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
The last day of school we got her report card that she was on to grade 2 and exceeding expectations in several areas of study. So proud of her work ethic at such a young age. Excited to see who her teacher will be in the fall, and looking forward to registering Xander for Kindergarten for fall 2014 so we can have both kids at the same school finally!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CjR03sSON9w/UdWsG5imf8I/AAAAAAAAKqU/YZpH_gJk6ic/s960/944448_10151695159635979_1166351105_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-CjR03sSON9w/UdWsG5imf8I/AAAAAAAAKqU/YZpH_gJk6ic/s320/944448_10151695159635979_1166351105_n.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
Dance photo weekend was crazy as Ken was away in New York for a Pixar masterclass, so I was trying to balance cakes and kids. I am excited to see the photos, I saw the previews and they are gorgeous. I love Ariel's ballet costume, she was a bluebell and it was just so pretty and sweet.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dJ9SxjkLdZQ/UdWsA4mDZ8I/AAAAAAAAKqM/UmxZbsr5f-c/s960/969954_10151669147760979_440486397_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dJ9SxjkLdZQ/UdWsA4mDZ8I/AAAAAAAAKqM/UmxZbsr5f-c/s320/969954_10151669147760979_440486397_n.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
That weekend also marked the arrival of a new family member, I now have a niece! Miss Natalie arrived weighing in at 10lb 9oz, born at home. We got to finally get over and see her amongst the crazy days so we could email pics to Ken who was eager to get home to meet her too. Ariel is very excited to have a girl cousin finally.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zShRzPZCX7U/UdWrDVp3fKI/AAAAAAAAKp4/_aBZLMwtZ9I/s960/1010041_10151672309750979_457968335_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zShRzPZCX7U/UdWrDVp3fKI/AAAAAAAAKp4/_aBZLMwtZ9I/s400/1010041_10151672309750979_457968335_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
Dance recital this year was 3 days of crazy for me, as I wanted to help every night behind the scenes. It was such a great moment to meet some of the 'pro moms' who have been doing this for years. Ariel only danced 2 nights as they didn't have the little ones do the late night show. The days she did dance she was on fire. She loves an audience and I am so proud of her and her 3 performances. We also learned about some quicker changes this year with more routines come getting into other costumes and hair styles. Those new moms I met came and helped me so much as I was tending to herding the kids onto the stage, I got a clipboard, so you know its an important job, hahaha. I was surprised during the thank yous to get my own bouquet of flowers from the studio for a thank you for sewing some last minute tutus. Ariel presented me with them, which was super sweet!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TlFHEnJChvw/UdWsXZvlSoI/AAAAAAAAKqc/H6khCyJw25M/s960/1001832_10151687193255979_1684276468_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TlFHEnJChvw/UdWsXZvlSoI/AAAAAAAAKqc/H6khCyJw25M/s400/1001832_10151687193255979_1684276468_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
Ariel and I had fun with the pile of fluff as you can see.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>

<br />
Following the last day of school was Ariel and I getting to go see Taylor Swift together!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-anf8qdy5CfI/UdXX-EBG4dI/AAAAAAAAKrM/03vNiz_1xJE/s960/1011909_10151699401420979_1976154745_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-anf8qdy5CfI/UdXX-EBG4dI/AAAAAAAAKrM/03vNiz_1xJE/s400/1011909_10151699401420979_1976154745_n.jpg" width="338" /></a></div>
<br />
Lots of our friends from church and the community were going to so we were able to ride down with friends, which was lots of fun for the girls.<br />

We had an amazing time and it was special for the both of us. She loved the dancers she had on stage, including ballet dancers on pointe for 'Love Story'</div>

<br />
Then Ken and I celebrated our 12th anniversary! Wow, time sure flies when you are having fun. We celebrated with a movie with the kids, Monster's University. It was a fun time together and we do look forward to a time this summer we can get away ourselves.<br />
<br />
Now we are full steam ahead for Ariel's big National pageant. She has raised $800 thus far for Children's Hospital, I am so incredibly proud of her. She is practicing and we are excited to see how she does. Then we are into Imagine That camp time, so the summer is flying and we are having fun!Jayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14821787656180664339noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8053280.post-73086713992172549932013-06-04T14:03:00.001-07:002013-06-04T14:03:25.841-07:00June... summer is on the horizon...whee!Wow, we entered June this past weekend, and it came in with glorious sun and warmth that was so awesome! Although I am a tad overwhelmed at how much is happening in the next 3 weeks but I am always amazed at how things fall into place and so I don't get too stressed, but enjoy the roller coaster ride. I am really loving today's semi relaxing day, and a dog curled up at my feet.<br />
<br />
I do have one particular week that involves a full weekend of dance recitals, wedding cake order and a few big school events (talent show and sports day). I think the following week I will sleep, haha. So that week if you don't hear much from me, you will know why.<br />
<br />
So the big news yesterday was Ariel signed up to try out for the school's talent show later this month. She went to the audition and made it! She was excited but so typically Ariel about it, which is mellow. She said she was nervous and messed up a dance step but did well. The teachers watching gave her more credit than she gave herself and I am excited to see her perform in front of the school. Eek! <br />
<br />
We are nearly done her last set of swimming lessons as of this week. She nearly passed swim kids 5 last time, just missing 2 requirements so we are eager to see if she made it this time. I am impressed with how good she has gotten and after talking to our friends and our neighbours who are involved, we are thinking of looking into swim club next summer. We shall see.<br />
<br />
Summer is taking shape and we have some plans in place. A tad different than we originally thought but it will all be good in the end. Due to the dance camp dates being different this year, Ariel can't attend which was kinda a sad moment in the house. However both her and Xander are ready for fun at VBS, a first for my little man who has been dying to go the past few years.<br />
<br />
<i>*All ready for the May Days parade, a wild west theme. </i><br />

<br />
Ariel is gearing up for a huge National pageant, with girls coming from across Canada. Its a fun weekend and we are excited to meet some new friends and for her to do her best. Then we all are at Imagine That for a week of crazy fun, Ariel is taking mixed media and sewing and Xander is in Preschool Arts. Ken is back teaching animation and me cake and cupcakes. Woot! August rolls around and Ariel goes off to camp for 2 nights and we are in birthday season. I think we are having Ariel's early this year in July just for some extra space between the 2.<br />
<br />
Xander is nearing the end of his first year at school. Its been a great year, and one of much growth for him. I will blog all about it soon, as it needs a post all of its own. I will share his little alphabet performance, so cute!<br />

Meeko is now 11 weeks old and growing so much! Next week he has his 12 week visit to the vet and his shots. Once he has these, we are safe to take him to the park, puppy classes etc. Until now we could only hold him out and about, now he can be on the grass on his feet. His long hair is slowly coming in, so he looks super fluffy. He wants to chew on things but isn't destructive, more playful. I noticed he is responding more to his name and can do the command 'sit' almost every time.<br />
<br />

<br />
Xander enjoys his furry friend, and they love to play. This is one of their favorite games, it will be a sad day when they both outgrow the car. Haha.<br />

<br />
We have been ending our activities slowly. Sparks ended with the big district advancement ceremony where Ariel moved up to Brownies and Mommy was recognized as a new Guider (leader). We attended the Monday night Brownie troop meeting, the one we are joining and really had a great time. She got her hand book in the mail already and she is eager to start earning badges come fall. It was really cool to see all the older girls in the program and the services they provide to the community. Love the Girl Guides, if you are interested in joining, its totally worth it! Ariel will be a 3rd generation Brownie, a full post coming on that later too!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Been doing some sewing in my brief time away from cake decorating. Ariel is going to a birthday party this weekend and her friend is a huge American Girl fan... and Justin Bieber fan. So for her present, I sewed her doll an outfit and made a tiny JB t-shirt! Yay for photo transfer paper. I already have some people asking if they can buy a t-shirt similar to it, so another business? haha who knows. </div>

Well I need to get back to my cakes, working on the annual gala for a Vancouver group and prepping for the rest of the orders for the week. What can I say, we love our fur baby!! He was worth the wait and we are all madly in love with him.<br />
<br />
The adventure started early Monday morning. Ariel was taking the day off school to join Stella, Xander and myself ride the ferry boat to Swartz Bay to meet Joanne the breeder. Its been awhile since we road the boat, and the first time the kids had ever walked on vs being in the car. We parked the car in the lot, got a ticket and headed onto the 9am boat.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-36abqRrTpgI/UZPZso2egxI/AAAAAAAAKmc/tCxh985gRGU/s1600/944599_10151610871455979_1104963866_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-36abqRrTpgI/UZPZso2egxI/AAAAAAAAKmc/tCxh985gRGU/s400/944599_10151610871455979_1104963866_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Since we left early we ate breakfast on the boat, Ariel and Xander both stuffed themselves with waffles, eggs and bacon, while all Mommy ended up with was toast, ha!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The ride over was nice and smooth. We walked around the boat a bit, the kids each got a small treasure from the gift shop and played in the kids zone. It wasn't long till we arrived at our destination... we were all eager to see Meeko! Xander kept looking out the window, I can't see him!!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l33786_sz9U/UZPZs9_B82I/AAAAAAAAKmk/BLzPZniAZsg/s1600/971952_10151610929430979_209224284_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l33786_sz9U/UZPZs9_B82I/AAAAAAAAKmk/BLzPZniAZsg/s400/971952_10151610929430979_209224284_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
We walked through the building to come off the boat and as we came through the doors there was Joanne with a tiny, furry head sticking out!!! I so wish I had gotten a photo, but I was too taken with our new little guy. He was so tiny, smaller than I remember Lucas being. The kids were in love, slowly reaching out their hands for him to sniff. Ariel was a bit more shy than I expected, but Xander was just wanting to get as close as he could, which was a real different reaction than I planned.<br />
<br />
Joanne took us over to her van and we got to snuggle Meeko and fill out the paperwork. Such an exciting day, so we quickly texted Daddy at work this photo.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DYE3mFOnjDE/UZPZsugKd_I/AAAAAAAAKmg/vcDcD9PCyZQ/s1600/942659_10151611001795979_1670701015_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DYE3mFOnjDE/UZPZsugKd_I/AAAAAAAAKmg/vcDcD9PCyZQ/s400/942659_10151611001795979_1670701015_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
We chatted and asked questions about everything that I still had floating in my head. Joanne was telling us how hard it is to say good bye to the pups, I can't imagine...but I promised lots of photos. We headed home with our new boy on the 1pm ferry, this time going to the 'pet room' on the lower level. It was helpful to have Stella take the kids up and get some lunch and come back while I hung out with Meeko.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0SOvt9PxFJQ/UZPdtYhaekI/AAAAAAAAKm8/SCZpxcnxwvs/s1600/DSC_7151.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0SOvt9PxFJQ/UZPdtYhaekI/AAAAAAAAKm8/SCZpxcnxwvs/s400/DSC_7151.JPG" width="263" /></a></div>
<br />
We dropped Stella off when we got back on the mainland, and headed home to introduce Meeko to his new surroundings. He had a lovely personality so far. He is very easy going, and likes his nap time and FOOD. As of today he is more comfortable and warming up to us, by coming up and wagging his tail. He was happy to see me in the morning so that was special. He sleeps so well in his crate, not a peep from the time we put him to bed till we get up in the morning. His potty training is going well so far, he was trained to use a potty patch, and for the most part does well with it with us. Makes living in a townhouse manageable with him and his potty needs.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2Jl5e8e0sZk/UZPdty7-DjI/AAAAAAAAKnE/FGQZzkCR2_o/s1600/DSC_7182.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2Jl5e8e0sZk/UZPdty7-DjI/AAAAAAAAKnE/FGQZzkCR2_o/s400/DSC_7182.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
We put on his new name tag on his puppy collar he came home in. The one we picked out for him will fit him in a few months most likely, but we love this one because it has hot dogs and sandwiches haha. His markings are stunning, he will be a gorgeous dog when he is full grown. He has a tiny white spot on the back of his head, haha too cute!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UnXgUstR9uE/UZPduUEVzpI/AAAAAAAAKnM/wKzUF8-ARzg/s1600/DSC_7263a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="263" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UnXgUstR9uE/UZPduUEVzpI/AAAAAAAAKnM/wKzUF8-ARzg/s400/DSC_7263a.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I have been taking Meeko on the porch in the mornings to get him use to our area. He is from a very quiet place on the island so the sounds of traffic I am sure are a change. He likes to stand and listen, then usually starts to shake a bit and wants to be snuggled. Shelties are generally timid dogs so there is much training that comes into getting them comfortable.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the coming weeks Meeko will get the rest of his shots and then can start puppy classes. Lots to look forward to and we are excited to watch the kids grow up with him. </div>

Welcome to the family Meeko... we love you!Jayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14821787656180664339noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8053280.post-13082784411759842592013-05-06T16:46:00.001-07:002013-05-06T16:47:15.191-07:00What a Feeling!Wow, I looked on here last night to see when I last blogged, oops, its been awhile eh?<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Ok, lets catch up on life...</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First, dance competitions continued and finished up this week. Ariel danced at both Synergy and DreamTeam and her group did fantastic! I am slowly learning how each competition scores and ranks the kids, and they are all different! Confusing!!! I never get tired watching her open the dance, its so cute!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UbRTbOcvPO8/UYg3Gtq9nvI/AAAAAAAAKjw/qCZLgCx-GxA/s1600/577666_10151593824320979_637084535_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UbRTbOcvPO8/UYg3Gtq9nvI/AAAAAAAAKjw/qCZLgCx-GxA/s400/577666_10151593824320979_637084535_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So at Synergy, they got a 'metal standing' of their skill and then a placement level against the others in the same age group. So they got 2nd place and a High Gold metal which is awesome, the only level higher is diamond. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ed7n6a-P04g/UYg3Gq1t8RI/AAAAAAAAKj0/t4tyMmZFSmU/s1600/947131_10151593760410979_456714102_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ed7n6a-P04g/UYg3Gq1t8RI/AAAAAAAAKj0/t4tyMmZFSmU/s400/947131_10151593760410979_456714102_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
At DreamTeam its all individual best, so they dance a bunch of groups or solos and then bring them on stage to give them a mini critique and metal standing, very much like an episode of American Idol in my opinion haha. <i>'That wasn't working for me dog.' </i>Anyhoo, they got a Gold metal, which is second highest, High Gold is the top here. They also got a choreography award which honored their teacher's great work! The girls were super clean at this one, a great performance. I was so giddy watching her. I am so proud of her hard work she put into this. Great work sweetie!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3LQtRO2dv0Y/UYg3M1KGl-I/AAAAAAAAKkA/6tILhU25x70/s1600/308665_10151596837935979_2125751656_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3LQtRO2dv0Y/UYg3M1KGl-I/AAAAAAAAKkA/6tILhU25x70/s400/308665_10151596837935979_2125751656_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I ordered a few of the stage shots from this last one, because they got a few good ones, but I don't have them yet so I will post them when they arrive. Thus ends our first year of competitions, what a blast!!!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My birthday! I turned 34 this year on May 1st, gack! Almost mid 30's that feels weird to say. Haha. It was an exciting day with handmade cards and lots of eating out. My Dad and Rita took Xander and I out for breakfast at Ricky's, yum! Then Dad took Xander for me and I got to have lunch and girl time with Stella at White Spot, yum yum. It included a birthday brownie with sparkler, whee!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then for dinner, Ken brought some some grub, since the man isn't a cook, and spared me cooking my own dinner. Haha. The kids presented lovely cards, Ariel made me a flower wreath, so pretty!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>

<br />
That afternoon also marked a HUGE event in our home, Ariel lost her FIRST TOOTH!!! Sound the trumpets, this has been a long time coming. Her tooth had been taking its sweet time and finally after school was hanging there barely. With her dance comp the next day I was worried it could pop out when she popped a move and she be crushed to lose it, so I called her over... and quickly pulled it out. She was yelping when she realized what I was doing but it was so quick and when I said 'look!' she stopped and laughed,<i> that didn't hurt at all!</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
Then I started jumping around all excited because it was on my birthday and how cool that was, Xander started going bananas, 'Ariel lost her tooth, way to go!' He was so proud of her, and it was beyond adorable!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The tooth has yet to be collected by the tooth fairy... Mommy hadn't finished the pillow yet, its almost done. Ariel really wanted to have it for a few days before it went away, so its in a place of honor till we send it off. Stay posted for updates on our first visit from the tooth fairy. </div>

<br />
Finally, the biggest news... our PUPPY!<br />
<br />
When last I mentioned him we were waiting on a puppy from the next litter most likely, that was indeed the case until we got a sad call saying the dog had something go wrong and ended up at the vet, with a c-section, and losing all but one puppy. We were crushed, as was the breeder since she knew we had been waiting so long. She called and said she was going to look into some fellow breeders and see if she could help get us on to another list... we were expecting to be waiting at least another few months.<br />
<br />
Then a few days later we got a call from her, how soon do you want your puppy and what color? I was stunned, how soon are we talking. Turns out the Daddy dog from her litter, his brother on Vancouver Island had a litter born the same day has them, St Patricks day, and they had 6 puppies, and one available!!! The breeder called us and we chatted, and she emailed us photos. Well we were smitten.<br />
<br />
Last night we got word she had picked her puppy to keep and we got first choice of the rest of them!!! Wow, how amazing is that! We emailed some questions, chatted, voted (facebook poll, lol) and then finally made our choice, which was the kid's first choice and ours all along.....<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
He reminds me of my first sheltie Lucas, something in the eyes. We all were drawn to he little white blaze on his face, the only puppy in the group who had it like his daddy. I am beyond thrilled, and a tad emotional, haha. I can't wait to pick him up next MONDAY!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
To mark the happy occasion we picked up his name tag today to take with us next week. So excited to have you join our crazy family Meeko, we love you already!</div>

I just happened to have a few minutes while Ariel was at dance class to update on things here with us.<br />
<br />
Its been a long haul, in the end I think we did really well, but I can say I am uber tired, and I am looking forward to that second set of hands coming home. Thankful for all the help we got from everyone while he was gone, from meals to babysitting, it really was awesome.<br />
<br />
The hardest thing was getting to church with the kids and doing my job as Children's director, I found that probably the hardest. Trying to talk to people while keeping an eye on my own kids proved challenging. Ha! I love that they are so comfortable at church but with so many new people coming its hard to find them in the crowds when they take off with friends.<br />
<br />
We ended up missing church this week as Ariel had her first dance competition at Peak Invitational!!! All the hard work has brought us to this point and it was very exciting. Overall they danced well as a group, a few mistakes but got 3rd place in their section. The professional photographer at the event got this great shot of Ariel as she is the first one out on stage before her group joins her. Love it!!!<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
She loves her little metal and is eager to hang it up some place special. Excuse the bad phone photos.<br />
<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xGJSdFiKUfw/UWybzH4MswI/AAAAAAAAKi8/3l4_xohdtqk/s1600/554864_10151564838140979_326130069_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xGJSdFiKUfw/UWybzH4MswI/AAAAAAAAKi8/3l4_xohdtqk/s400/554864_10151564838140979_326130069_n.jpg" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
We have 2 more competitions to attend, but they are the first week of May so a bit of time to practice. Talk of the recital is already starting too, she is a bluebell for her ballet this year and her other jazz class is doing 'You Don't Know Your Beautiful'.<br />
<br />
Work has been BUSY. I have had a huge surge in orders this month, nearly triple what I did last year during this month. Its been an adjustment with my time but I am thankful for the work, and so are my taxes, we got the 'lovely' surprise we had to pay in both countries this year. Basically there is a parallel tax system in place, which usually keeps us safe, but since we used some RRSPs for our down payment and those aren't taxable here, they are in the USA. Boo! Wasn't a terrible amount, but it still sucked. Thankful for extra work that is covering what we didn't expect, so God is good!<br />
<br />
Xander has been having a rough time with Ken gone. The first few days were lots of 'when is Daddy coming home?' Then he didn't want to sleep in his bed the first few nights either and was very clingy, all very normal but made things a tad tricky when trying to get things done. Thankfully the days have flown by and he is excited to see Daddy on Thursday!<br />
<br />
Ariel's long awaited 'report card' gift arrived last week. She had picked out the AG pet bath set, and both kids have had hours of entertainment washing the dogs.<br />

<br />
Last Friday I got to go to the Marianas Trench concert with my friend Brenda. I really was sad Ken missed it but it was a wonderful night out and a great break for me! Brenda treated me to dinner since I offered the ticket to her for free. We got to catch up on Imagine That business then went to the concert at the Pacific Coliseum. It was an awesome show, and I taped a bit of Ariel's favorite song for her...<br />

Well, its time to get Ariel, so I will wrap this up. Thinking of those in Boston... sad events, we are praying for you.Jayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14821787656180664339noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8053280.post-61540786711276176052013-04-01T22:30:00.000-07:002013-04-01T22:30:19.765-07:00Endings and BeginningsToday was the end of Spring Break... I for one am ready for some normalcy and routine and I think the kids do too. Xander has been talking about his teacher and seeing her so we are more than ready. In the past 48 hours my emotions have been all over the place. On Saturday afternoon we got word from Ken's boss that they wanted him to stay longer in Australia due to the Pixar event being bigger than planned (sold out actually) and they were in need of help. So from what we expected was to be one week away turned into almost 3 weeks. So we had to quickly adjust and figure stuff out. Only a tad stressful, ack!<br />
<br />
We drove him to the airport Sunday afternoon and late today we got to talk online. He looked really good for someone who was on a plane over 14 hours.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Sadly Ken will miss the concert we had tickets to, Mariana's Trench. I asked my friend Brenda if she wanted to go with me, and she was like, 'Sure! Who are they?' haha. Ah well, we will have fun... I've emailed various links to videos so she can get more familiar with the music but its a night out so I am sure we will enjoy it regardless.<br />
<br />
Today was the 13th year since my mom died. I found myself very numb to it this year. I don't know if that is because Ken left yesterday and I am tired from 2 weeks of spring break craziness or what, but I found myself sitting at her grave with not much to say. We brought her some roses and had a quick photo via the phone.<br />

Xander has just lost all his chub in the past month, looking more like a little boy. His feet also grew, his toes popped out the front of his sneakers, making us go find a new pair quickly, haha.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Speaking of Xander, we visited our new dentist and we FINALLY got him to sit in the chair, and even have a full cleaning. It was amazing, and he happily watched tv while holding his new green toothbrush. The new office is great, and the people there were fantastic with the kids... a far cry from where we were at. Enough said!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So the lunches and snacks are packed for both kids to return to school tomorrow. Looking forward to some quiet time to myself... its been awhile. </div>

Last week we were busy with swimming lessons for both kids, at the same time (score!) and a few other fun activities. This was Xander's first time in lessons and so far so good. In fact, I was expecting some resistance, and for the most part there hasn't been much, except him not wanting to blow bubbles. Now I know the kid blows bubbles, he makes a mess in my bathroom nightly from it, so I told him and the teacher that he knows and he is just holding out. So we went to the pool today while Ariel was in gymnastics and did some practice. So we will see how this week goes. He doesn't care if he passes or not, its been a winning experience for the most part, no crying or screaming, haha.<br />
<br />
Ariel is holding her own in swim kids 5. The class is 45minutes now and new strokes introduced and overall she is doing great. I think she will need to repeat it again unless she totally nails the whip kick this week. Her teacher said she is doing quite well, and has them doing more endurance drills since he notices she gets sloppy when she gets tired. So she is doing the full length of the pool 3 TIMES! Seriously!!! I think that is amazing in itself, especially when you see how tiny she is compared to her classmates. Part mermaid indeed!<br />
<br />
Last week I had some intense orders that kept me busy, Friday was full day of doing 3 really fancy ones, including these, the Tiffany box...<br />

...and The Cat in the Hat. This was pretty exciting to finish, and fun to look at... sometimes its amazing how they come together, I really should do photos making them some time, as they aren't so pretty in the middle stages, haha.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I took the kids to the mall one of the rainy days and we picked up a new swim suit for Ariel who was still squeezing in to size 4s but really needed something a bit more her age. She picked a cute tankini and loves it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Then we got each kid a spring outfit, hoping to encourage Spring to show up.<br />

<br /></div>
<br />
We celebrated Palm Sunday and boy was it exciting to have more than 3 kids wave branches this year. The kids were totally pumped and ran around the sanctuary and then led the congregation in a song. Looking forward to Easter and we even invited friends this year who aren't church goers so that is cool!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
After the service we got invited to join some of the other young families to a park playdate, and had a fantastic time hanging out for several hours in Steveston. The kids had a ball and got a good workout while we visited. I am so happy to have more people our age at church, its a huge blessing. We have been lonely for a long time, so on the way home we were both content and eager for next time.<br />
<br />
Puppy update, 2 new puppies born, but we are second in line and if the family before us decides to pass we will have a BOY puppy! They other dog is due in another 3 weeks so if we don't get this boy we get a puppy for sure from this next group. The breeder has been sending photos and they are so special and make it hard to wait at the same time. Hoping the next time we share we have a photo of our new furry baby!!!'<br />
<br />
A few other tidbits. Ariel and I went to the fabric store one day to pick out some material to make Marie Grace a new dress because that poor girl has no clothes. It turned out lovely and I see lots of doll clothes making in my future. Possibly for birthday girls for Ariel's friends who have dolls like hers. How cool would that be!<br />
<br />

<br />
One rainy night I felt like comfort food, so we did home made macaroni and cheese, yum. I added some wiener octopus, because I can. I remember seeing these at Disneyland and thought it be cute. Xander ate his head and decided that was enough, haha.<br />

<br />
We are going to our new dentist tomorrow, so that is exciting. We have several playdates planned and then its EASTER! Woot! Its been nice having the kids around... it will be sad to see them go back to school next week... and yet I look forward to the silence... just a bit. Hee.<br />

Oh and big news for our little girl... she is going to CAMP this summer!!! After her asking lots of questions after reading about camp, and not finding one that fit our schedule, a friend from church mentioned Camp Squeah has a jr camp program which was 2 nights and its in August which works for us! She was so so so excited when we told her and I am excited for her since I LOVED going to camp. It will be so amazing for her and her spiritual life. So we may decide to do a little 2 night trip near by the camp, just to have a little vacation too, since we never get away in the summer, so we will see... but eek!<br />

I can't tell if the girl is actually sick, but she threw up on the play ground today, not a lot but she was jumping around being silly but she isn't showing any other signs of illness. Eating well, perky, no fever, the only thing that was odd was she was a tad tired, but we had time change so I don't know. Either way, I am playing it safe so she can get some rest before swimming starts next week.<br />
<br />
In other news, Ariel ALMOST got to be in photo shoot with Clive Owens and Juliette Binoche for a movie being filmed here. They were looking for a blond 5-7girl who did pageants, and the director of the pageants we do (she is also an agent) gave them Ariel's name and photo. She was one of 4 girls they looked at, but in the end picked our friend Marley, who is much more blond than Ariel, and a tad younger, so like they say in show business, we weren't what they were looking for, haha. It was fun being up for a chance, and its a story to tell, plus we love it went to a friend. In the end Ariel was sick today when the photo shoot happened so probably for the best. I never told her about it in case it didn't go her way, figured that was safer... not that she knows who those people are anyways, haha. She is still my star.<br />

<br />
I've been having lots of meetings lately helping plan the upcoming Easter season services with the worship team. Its been great to be a part of the group again. I was a part back in the days before kids, so its great to spread some creativity as well as connecting the children's ministry which is my primary reason for joining.<br />
If you are in the area I invite you to come join us! Its going to be a party... literally!<br />
<br />

<br />
I got the opportunity to help out this week in Xander's class. After dropping him off I got home to a phone call from Pia saying Debbie was sick, so I came to take over and man the 'craft station'. It was lots of fun and see Xander's class in action. He did act a bit funny at first but then forgot I was there and acted in his normal Xander ways.<br />
<br />
I took time this weekend after my work to paint. I haven't had that chance in ages and it felt really awesome. Its just nice sitting with a brush and not thinking too much about anything else, which is why I don't paint that much haha.<br />
<br />

<br />
Guess who went to the eye doctor for the first time and Mommy didn't leave embarassed, Xander! Yes we have come a long way my friends. Just hoping the dentist in the next few weeks is just as good. It was interesting to watch the doctor since when Ariel did her first test she was very confident in letters and Xander isn't... well he is, but he won't say them on comand. Ha! So he got to do the picture chart, and that was cool, and the final results, no glasses. We will go back next year but at least we know this exam we can handle.<br />

<br />
Puppy watch update - its been awhile since I said anything about our waiting on our furry family member, as there wasn't much to tell after the last litter resulted in us not getting a dog when the puppy died. Sad face. We got the update that they are expecting 2 litters of puppies, so we should hopefully be getting our dog this spring! The first litter is to be born is any day now, so its exciting again to be waiting for news. They did the ultrasound and are expecting 3 puppies. The second group is to be born in another 4-5 weeks. The kids talk about the dog a lot these days, especially when we see people out with their dogs. There are names rolling around but until we see our puppy its our secret for now.<br />
<br />
Finally, Ken will be leaving soon for Australia... I want a dingo.<br />
<br />Jayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14821787656180664339noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8053280.post-4612758183101699122013-03-04T21:50:00.001-08:002013-03-04T21:50:42.800-08:00Spring Break is coming... SOON!Its amazing how fast things are flying by these days. Lots of work, projects and stuff to keep my feet racing but I got to be lazy today... I sat on the couch with my cross stitch and watched episodes of Parenthood I taped ages ago and hadn't watched. It was heaven... and after a rough weekend I needed it.<br />
<br />
I don't want to go into too much on here, but long story short I had a 'unhappy' customer who no matter what I did was going to be happy. It made for a sad Saturday with tears and confusion. Come Sunday and a wonderful message from Pastor Lee (did I say how blessed we are to have him!) I felt much better. We had Lee and his family over following the service for lunch and a visit. We really hit it off well with them, and the kids have a great time together.<br />
<br />
The big news in the house is Ariel has FINALLY got a loose tooth! It is one of her top front ones and its getting quite wiggly. I was asking some of the other moms what the going rate for teeth was with the 'tooth fairy' - these kids get it far too good. However, the first one is going to be special, especially with the fact she has waited so long... at least for her. I am looking for a pattern to make a tooth pillow, so I need to get that together asap the way that tooth is shaking.<br />
<br />
We went to an Oscar party downtown, enjoyed ourselves with yummy food and won some fun prizes - a $50 gift certificate for dinner at the Stonegrill and a hotel stay downtown Vancouver. Hoping we can use it when we go to our concert... if we can convince someone to take the kids over night. They are both toilet trained haha, so that should help right?<br />
<br />
Spring break is around the corner and we are set with swimming lessons for both kids and I let Ariel do some special things at gymnastics. They were offering cheap special classes in learning to perfect cartwheels, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline etc. We are also hosting Ariel's classmates, the 3 other gals, over for a 'late over' - basically the fun things about a sleepover, pjs, making pizza, ice cream and a movie, only they get picked up by their parents to go home to bed. Needless to say they are all thrilled and its something fun to look forward to.<br />
<br />
Well I am done, ready for bed. The weather has been all over the place, one day super beautiful and the next dumping rain... so it must be Spring! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I packed up the valentines stuff and unloaded our Easter things. With the starting of Lent I wanted to get our 'Resurrection Eggs' out since they were packed and we missed doing them last year. Which means we are getting closer to our house anniversary! Eek, almost a year, hard to believe!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Xander and I went out to look for a few new things to add to my decor since I wanted to do something with my cool glass jar thingys. We picked up some naturally colored eggs and a nest that Xander really liked. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
While out we decided to hit Ikea and Xander finally was tall enough for the play room!!! By a hair, seriously, a hair. He didn't care, he had been told so many times he was too short so it was a big day for him. I think he did a cannonball into the ball pit from pure joy. He waved goodbye and I got a nice hour to myself just wandering around. In that time I actually found a really cute carpet for our living room, AND it was cheap! Gosh I love Ikea!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I picked Xander up who was happy to see me and we went to have meatballs for lunch. We sat near the window and watched the cars go by. It was nice to spend some downtime with him, feels like I have been so busy that I don't get these moments like I did with Ariel.<br />
<br />
After lunch we stopped at Home Depot as I wanted a light switch plate for our bedroom, yeah I kept forgetting to get one. While there I found some spray paint that could work in fixing up our vanity in our bathroom. The vanity itself will need to be replaced at some point when we redo the bathroom, but this helps make it more tolerable in the meantime.<br />

<br />
The next day while both kids were in school, I went up to the Point for a mail run and decided to look for these beauties. All I see on Facebook right now is people talking about 'Chicken & Waffle' chips. Simply out of curiosity I managed to find one of the last few bags and brought it home for testing, haha. Strangely, both Ken and I were pleasantly surprised at how good they were. Tasted kinda like honey chicken, better than I expected. Would I get them again, the girl who prefers plain flavored chips, yes I would! Gasp!!! Would I get them soon... no, because I am 20lbs down and rather keep it going down vs up, ha!<br />

Ever seen ducks sitting in trees? This was a new sight for me, but I guess this is a normal wood duck thing I am told!<br />

<br />
I got a last minute order for a cake this weekend and I took it on since its an easy design and a friend from high school. Looking forward to it since its kinda weird not to be working this week.<br />
<br />
I hung the kid's Easter bags, I just need to sew up our family one, maybe this weekend. Its super cute with bunnies and duckies. Speaking of my cross stitching projects, I finished my stocking (still needs to be sewed) and will be starting Ken's, and at this rate we will both have real stockings next Christmas. Did I mention how great it is to stitch again. I love having the kids older and able to understand not to touch my projects like that.<br />

<br />
Today Ariel had an American Girl doll play date with some friends from church. It was pretty cute that the 3 girls arrived with their dolls in matching carrying cases... I wish I had taken a photo. They had a great time and somehow all ended up wearing Ariel's pajamas... also wishing I got a photo of that but it was just too funny to see them come down and show us their silliness.<br />
<br />
Well, Ken should be home soon and I need to get to bed, have a cake to decorate in the morning.Jayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14821787656180664339noreply@blogger.com0
