Friday Night Lights

Here is the top of my fridge, thought I'd share some of our decorations! The past few days have been non-stop Ariel led days. AKA, she is being very clingy these days. I think it was more so a good case of the crankies. She finally got a good nap in yesterday and boy did it make a difference in her attitude and behaviour last night. Its been somewhat a struggle to get her to nap a long time when the phone keeps ringing. She didn't use to react to it, sigh. It doesn't help that it has been ringing off the hook at nap time. I wouldn't doubt it is stressing her out. I took the phone off the hook and rocked her to sleep. Once she was in deep sleep nothing was waking her, and she got a few hours in. When she woke up, a meal and then into our woolies. Tonight was the official lighting of the village tree! YAY!

Ken was still gone at this point. He had been calling earlier to say the buses hadn't been showing up, and he had been there well over an hour. Ugh. So Ariel and I joined the caroling with the townfolk. Sorry no pics since I was holding her and on my own. After the songs, the countdown to the lighting of the tree. Whee! Then the parade down to the waterfront where the sailboats were passing all decorated. Nothing better than hearing the pipers play christmas songs, and along with that, actually singing songs about the real meaning of Christmas.

Ran into some friends from church and Nana. While chatting up walks Ken who had ended up taking a cab and needless to say was really hungry, tired and generally frustrated that no buses came. Took him home and fed him. He soon chilled out and called the bus customer line, apparently one bus broke down and another was vandalized. Lovely.

Tonight is the church's christmas banquet! Its being held at the christian school since we are lacking a kitchen at the moment with the construction. (We are also missing heat, but thats another story). Ken is teaching today, so he will join us when he gets back. Tomorrow is our Bible study party, so lots of gatherings this weekend.

Ariel and the boys

I didn't think we had to worry about boys until she was older, hehe. Actually, we all had a great time and Ariel had fun hanging out with other babies. She hasn't seen Carter in quite awhile, so it was neat to see how big he had gotten. We also got to meet Issac. Unfortunately, there was never a time when all the kids were happy. So we have a somewhat funny picture of Carter crying and the other 2 kinda like, whats going on?

The ginger-babies were a big hit, lol. Lots of laughs over them. I think I may be on to something, heh. Maria and Ellie came by to see everyone on the way home from gymnastics. Ellie showed off her tumbling, and I kept flinching every time it looked like she was going to roll right into the china cabinet.

So, here are a few more pics of the fun. The first one is Issac and Ariel. Apparently, he is a big fan of the camera like Ariel. Both were so eager to smile when I pulled it out. Hehe. The next one is when the troopers were ready to roll out. All snuggled warm in their car seats. Carter is the one hugging the bear. Hee.

Finally, below is a pic of when Carter and Ariel first met back in September, and now look at them. Ariel is still on the taller side but Carter is the beefcake in the weight division. Even though he is only a few weeks younger, he really shows her up in that category. So I hope we do it again, it was a lot of fun.

Today was much more mellow. Had coffee with Nana and Delores. Realized I had forgotten to bring my christmas cards to put in the mail. Doh! I guess I will have to do it tomorrow. So hang tight, they are coming people. I need to finish the ones still for church, but Sunday is still a few days away. Got down to the village, even though the bridge is not cleared. It wasn't as easy to get across with it being slush. I got through, but it was a struggle. Hello!! City government people, time to look into clearing high traffic areas. Sigh.

Got another gift bought and under the tree. The rest we are getting via online. Gotta love free shipping! Saves me time, and the price is right. Once home I was feeling motivated to get some more of the decorations done. Got the greenery on the stairs hung. This year I added lights. Oooh. I found awesome battery powered ones at Ikea awhile back. Its perfect because no tacky extension cord, and no outlet close enough to the stairs. Whee. Then, I thought, lets get the deck lights up, this is where things get interesting.

I take them out and put Ariel in her chair to watch me, since it was too cold for her. I decided to take the phone with me since if the glass door was closed I couldn't hear it. I am glad I did because somehow when closing the door, the latch slipped. When I try to open the door once completing the lights, I realize I can't. I have a sudden panic of horror. Ariel I think sensed it and started crying. Oh good grief. Here I am stuck on the deck and my baby is inside. I then remembered I brought the phone with me, thank the Lord. I call Nana who I am sure had a small heart attack with this one. Sheepishly I ask if she can rescue me, then say where I am. I think her driving over was a new record. I was back inside pretty quick and plan on looking to see why my door latch is suddenly so easily closed, blah. I have had enough for one day, time for some Jon Stewart. Heh.

Ginger-babies!

Heheh, yep. I made them for the baby tea party over at Stella's tomorrow morning. Ariel is going to hang out with the boys, Issac and Carter. Should be fun.

So the Champions party was wonderful, complete with awesome food. Yum. Nice to catch up with everyone. Ariel was a good girl and was the attention grabber most of the evening. She was wearing her ever so cute christmas dress. I'm glad she is getting lots of wear out of it, for what I paid *cough cough* its worth it for the utter cuteness. You only have a first christmas once right?

Had a dentist visit this morning, haven't been in almost 2 years, gack. I was to go for my year visit but then I got pregnant and had such a sensitive gag reflex, it wasn't in anyones best interest that I go and barf on them. Sigh. Anyhoo, Nana and Papa came to watch Ariel since the housekeeper was at their place, it worked out perfectly. The cleaning was fast but right before I was to leave, my x-ray showed the tiniest of Shadow inbetween my back teeth, thus a cavity. Blah. So I shall return next monday to deal with that. I can honestly say that I do not fear the whole thing now, because once you have been poked with the biggest needle in your spine (three times in a row) the freezing needle at the dentist is NOTHING!

Well, its time to get the girly into bed, bye!

1st Sunday of Advent

And we almost didn't make it. Blah. Today we decided to get the car in motion after the crazy snow this past week. What we weren't expecting was the snow that was pushed behind our car to be practically ice. We got stuck pretty fast and needless to say it was wearing on my emotions. Thank goodness we always plan to leave early, since Ariel loves to listen to the worship team pratice.

Back to the car, we got some salt and I was praying for it to work when suddenly a man with one of those fancy ice shoves comes walking by out of the blue. Asking him if he wouldn't mind helping. He and Ken get the car free and we are on our way. Praise! Woot!

I am happy to say, the snow tires are now on the car. Now that we know we can get freak snow in Novemeber, I may have them on by October next year. Blah. Where is my west coast rain! I miss thee.

Tonight is the Champions Christmas party. I plan to make up for missing last year. Its strange to think about that time. I was newly pregnant and had a small spotting that sent us to the hospital emergancy in utter freaking out. I hadn't seen my prenatal doctor yet and so it was very scary indeed. I was put on bedrest the next few days and had the worst migraine ever, thanks to the stress I was feeling. I never had any spotting after that, and my doctor attributed it to the cervix changing for the pregnancy.

As I prepare to bring Ariel tonight, I am thankful it was nothing more serious. I want to pray for the ones that were not as fortunate as I. The ones who struggle with the loss. During this time of advent, may the Lord light your hearts with strength and with hope. Amen.

Movie update

So we got a name for the film that they are filming outside our place, its called Trick 'r Treat, starring Anna Paquin. CLick HERE for the IMDB info on the project. Anyhoo, the street is again filled with people in costumes and some major drumming happening. Looks like a big street fair. No pictures of the action since they were filming. We took Ariel out to watch for a bit after walking down to the video store. She liked all the bright lights and people.

Not a lot to report today. Had a few outings this morning and got some christmas cards done. Had an emotional breakdown, heh, no nothing bad. Just needed a good cry, been a lot going on with friends and it takes a toll on the heart.

Well, I am going to go watch a movie with my hubby and baby girl. Bye!

Christmas Countdown Begins!!!

Ariel is excited, can you tell. She is all decked out for the christmas coffee party this morning, whee. Last night we were preparing our gifts for everyone, so the living room looks like a bomb went off in it. Blah. Guess I will deal with that later.

The snow is still here, but more in a slushy sense of the word. Its a lot easier to walk around in and I ended up walking down to the store yesterday with baby in tow. As we made our way down the street, the filming people had returned yet again, this time on a grander scale. Turns out its a feature film, but then again I have heard that from the workers before and it goes straight to video. Its so weird thats its a Halloween film, especially as they try their best to get rid of the snow. Lol. Here are some pics, its quite an operation.

Ken's event went really well and I look forward to seeing the video of it. I am sure once he gets a free moment he will blog about it. He ended up working from home yesterday, which was nice for him. He has been putting in some 10-12 hour days as of late, so to do work in the comfort of home was a treat. Not to mention he got to see more of Ariel. She seemed pleased to see him too. Nice to have time with both mommy and daddy.

As far as today, I have to make up the christmas cards. I got a good start last night, so if all goes well they will be in the mail this weekend. Also plan to do some wrapping and trying to clean up the various messes around this place. But I will always find time for a snuggle with my girl under the tree. Hee
