Project 365 - Day 36

I don't usually drink, so when we went out for dinner tonight it was a super treat for me to have a fancy drink. Hee, pretty and pink!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So my sweetie turned 35 today. It also marked a special day for us, as 10 years ago I went to his birthday party as a friend from school and left perhaps as something a little more. Ken asked me out a week later on Valentines Day. So we have been together for 10 years now, next summer will be our 10 year wedding anniversary, wow. Time flies...

Ken left work a tad early today and came home to find his present from his family arrived in the mail, so he got to open them via webcam which was fun. He got a beautiful new coat from his mom, which is awesome!!! He also got a funny t-shirt and a book.

Daddy and his biggest fans!

Then Dad and Rita came over and Ken and I went to dinner at this cute new little lounge that opened a few weeks ago here in town. It was nice to go to some place new, and that was soooo quiet. I can't tell you how great it was to not have the kids with us and just enjoy each others company. The food was really good too, we got a neat starter plate of cheese and meat...

and I had a plate of sliders with pulled pork. So cute!

Ken had ribs and a glass of wine, happy birthday indeed!

Then we came back for dessert with the family and friends. I then got to share my secret cake project... I give you the record player!

Yes, I must have been crazy when I thought of it. The base is all cake covered with fondant, the record is melted chocolate. Ken loved it, surprised more for the fact he got a fancy cake at all.

Ariel helped blow out the candles...

Then cut...

and eventually snuck a bite from the record when no one was looking.

After a fun evening of visiting and gifts for the birthday boy, everyone went home and Ken and I are watching the Michael Jackson movie he hadn't seen yet. Well, I need to wrap and freeze some of this cake I think. Have a great weekend everyone.

Happy Bday to Ken! You did a fabulous job on his cake. Alex and I started dating on 2/6. :) But it was 1998. We haven't been married as long though since we waited until 2002.
