Anniversary and Holiday Recap

Hey everyone! Finally back here and ready to tell you about our fun filled days. Whee! First off, thank you all for your lovely anniversary wishes, it was a great day! Now, lets go back to the beginning of the weekend... oh if you need a bathroom visit or a snack, I'd suggest taking care of it now, its a LONG post.

Saturday turned out to be a wonderfully warm day. So Ariel and I covered ourselves in sunscreen and headed to the water park.

It took Ariel awhile to get use to the idea that she would get 'wet' at this park. She loves the pool, but apparently this is just a bit different in her eyes and was freaking out if water spray touched her. Ok, it didn't help some kid sprayed her in the back, that got her pretty upset. So step one, make friends with the water...

Step two, hope that no one sprays her again all summer, haha. She loved running over the little bridge and would squeal as the water's light spray got her.

We had a call from Nana that Aunt Deborah was over so we went and had a quick visit before heading home again for a nap. Turns out that Ariel wasn't really wanting a nap and in the end only slept for 40 minutes tops. I don't blame her, as it was really hot and she kept peaking out her window watching the people outside.

Shortly before 4pm, we headed over to my friend Julie's old house. Her family had invited us over for a BBQ. Julie and her hubby are moving down to the states, so its gonna be a while until they come up this way and they wanted to have some pictures taken of the entire family. I was touched they thought of me to help them out, so we took some pictures and had a lovely time. I must say, dang those burgers were good! Ariel had a wonderful time playing with all the kids... and sitting in the tiny chairs. She loves those!

This is Julie and Ray's little girl, Lillian! She is only 2 months old, what a cutie. At one point Lillian was crying and Ariel tried to make her feel better by giving her the remaining part of her burger. Awe, nice sharing Ariel, just no meat yet for baby.

Yes, she loves to share... want some cupcake?

Next morning was church and we walked in the warm sun. Its amazing how when your not use to the heat how fast it effects you. I was so tired the rest of the day and so Ken did some work and I napped. Ariel... well, she did some singing....

That evening Dad and Rita babysat for us so we could go see WALL-E at the theater. That movie was BRILLIANT! I loved it and will be looking for cute Wall-e things in Disneyland for sure. Check out Ken's review here for Hollywood Jesus. Isn't he the cutest thing?!

Our 7th anniversary on the Monday was a wonderful day of relaxing. We didn't plan anything and decided to play it by ear. After waking up and eating breakfast, we thought a trip to the beach would be a fun activity to do as a family. So we piled into the car and headed to the closest beach.

Ariel wasn't impressed with the sand, and really I am not surprised. She didn't want to touch it at all and Ken had to carry her down to the water. She just kept saying 'dirty'. Haha. Once she got use to the feel of waking in the little pool of water, she was running around having a great time. I was able to capture some awesome pictures and video. She was just too cute for words in her little white dress.

We found a bunch of ducklings and Ariel loved them. Lots of 'quacking' for them, haha. Actually, there was a mommy and 6 babies, so seven ducks for our seventh anniversary. I think thats just ducky... sorry, had to say it.

We got dried off and had a brief play at the park and then did some more pictures in the wildflowers and long grass. This is my favorite one.

Our tummies were grumbling so we had a special treat and had lunch out at White Spot. Ariel was very excited to have some fries. We came home and napped most of the afternoon while Ken did some work on his course. For dinner I made up some tasty stakes with new potatoes and asparagus. Yum! To top it off, some marble cake, just like we had on our wedding day, awe. Our little cake topper is still around, hee.

We met up after dinner with the family for a brief meeting regarding moving Nana and Papa to the seniors residences. Its going to be some work to deal with all the little and big things that come with a move like that, so its good we were all able to talk. Ariel played well during that time and ended the meeting calling Kyle on Penny's cel phone.

Then we all checked out the boo boo in Mike and Jo's car. Oops. Not their fault! Ariel was very concerned about the car... either that or she has super human strength and did that herself!

Next morning bight and early we were up and dressed in our red and white clothes to celebrate Canada Day! Whee! Ariel doing her annual picture with her flag and wearing the dress I made her.

Dad, Rita and Katie met up with us and we all went down for the pancake breakfast. Ran into Stella and Jack, so we joined them as well.

We played the find the famous Canadian game at the museum, this year's one was easier (thank goodness) than last years. Then we watched the live band play for a while, which got Ariel up on her feet and dancing. Apparently, she was entertaining everyone because the people from the local tv station were filming her as well as one of the photographers from the paper. He took her name, so we will let you know if she appears in the Canada Day section. Here is a little snippet of her dance routine.

After the dancing and speeches came cutting the big cake, my favorite part by far. Yummy! We chowed down and then headed home to chill out the remainder of the day. Ariel was a little bummed that we weren't going to dance anymore, but she was out to sleep almost before her head hit the bed.

After dinner we went over to see Nana and Papa's new place. Can I say how BEAUTIFUL it is. Wow, if I get to retire someday in a place like this I will be totally happy. Its a wonderful room, with stunning views... and their new neighbor was in too. Glad I brought my camera.

A quick picture on their new deck to mark the beginning of this new stage! Its sad and exciting, so much will change but it all going to be for the better. The next 2 weeks are going to be a little crazy with the moving and preparing the house for selling. I am sure I will be sharing all of that in the next few days.

Well, that should catch up everyone about the past few days... if anyone is still reading. Lol. Well, its already midweek, crazy. Back to our regularly scheduled programing.... this is for you Taeya!

Is it the same retirement home that I used to audit and then come visit you after work? It kind of looks like it. If it's the same one... it's amazing!! I was so impressed with the facilities there, and one of my co-workers was even asking if there was an age requirement before she could move herself in! hehe
