Halloween 2008

We survived and I think we will be eating candy until Christmas! Ariel did well with her haul and checks out the basket of treats every few hours to see if they are all still there. So far the favs are lollipops and smarties.

On Thursday we had a full day of fun. In the morning we were invited to Erin and Sienna's Halloween party. We picked up Erin and Carter and headed out for a fun time. Erin had lots of fun activities lined up for the kids. First off was painting pumpkins. Ariel was busy eating chips when we started and nearly ate one she dipped in the green paint. Lol. Tasty.

They were so engrossed in this, Ariel managed to cover her pumpkin pretty much in paint... I wonder how long it took to dry?

The masterpieces!

Then we moved on to decorating cookies. This is right before Ariel helped herself to a spoonful of sprinkles. Yummy!

We then dressed up the kids in their costumes. Ariel and Sienna were both Ladybugs and Carter was a Fireman. They were totally adorable!

We walked down to take part in the Halloween story time at the library. The kids really enjoyed it and the fun songs.

Afterwards we came back for a yummy orange lunch! Orange bread, cheese, carrots and Cheetos. The kids had a wonderful time and following lunch we packed up and came home again. Thanks Erin and Sienna for a wonderful party!

In the evening was the Pumpkin Festival in town. Sadly it was dumping rain and kinda cold, but it didn't stop us from having a wonderful time.

We trick or treated at the businesses, and Ariel caught on VERY quickly to how the whole deal worked. She was very excited to get 'TREATS' in her bag. Ariel had her picture taken with the scarecrow. They let her stand on the pumpkin for some extra height. Haha.

Then Daddy arrived and we snacked on hot dogs, pop corn and cupcakes. Yum. We entered Ariel into the contest draw, so we will see if we win anything this year. It was starting to get colder and we headed home to warm up and eat some of the candy Ariel collected.

Then Halloween day came and we had a FULL day of events planned. First off we swung by the cafe so Ariel could show off her costume to the coffee gals. Ariel wasn't sure of Jo-Anne's costume. These fries she couldn't eat.

Afterwards we had our regular breakfast and laundry session at Grandpa and Rita's. Who knew ladybugs did laundry so well?

Following that we swung by to pick up Nana for lunch and managed to get a chat in with Papa and Taylor. Ariel was more excited about the treats the lady at the front desk gave her. Haha. We drove to meet Stella and Kara at the restaurant, we were celebrating Stella's birthday which was the day before. Whee!

The pumpkin twins!

After lunch I had a bit of a scare, I couldn't find my cel phone! Ugh. I drove from Nana's back to the restaurant looking for it. I came home finally to call Stella to see if she might have seen it. As I was on the phone Nana showed up at the door with it thank heavens! I left it downstairs at their place, and the reception lady found it. Yay, so crisis averted.

I was very thankful Ariel managed to sleep for an hour that day. After a full week of 'no naps' I was starting to loose hope. Her little rest was enough time for me to sit and relax before a busy evening. At 5pm we dashed off to pick up Ken from the bus loop and head to Dad's... of course not before we lit our pumpkins. Ariel is convinced they are birthday candles. Haha.

Rita had made a nice little dinner of soup and buns before we did some trick or treating down their street. Katie came for the evening, so Ariel was happy to have some company. I was so happy the rain held off for all the kids, and it was surprisingly warm. Crazy!

Once we finished the street we had to head on our way to join the party we were invited to at the Brenda and Kevin's. Almost all of them were dressed up as pirates and I almost didn't recognize Julie (Jo's sister) and her hubby Chris. They looked awesome.

Ariel was having a BALL with all the kids and did pretty well to keep up with them most of the time. Her FAVORITE part by far was the 'scary house' as she called it. There is a house that regularly goes all out and decorates the front yard all spooky like and Ariel thought it was funny. Must be her Dad's daughter, haha. We had to take her in twice and for the rest of the night she kept asking if we could go back.

The kids had all had enough and we went back to the house. Brenda and Julie had set up a scary basement to play a trick on the older kids (the younger ones got to help by running out after the story with ketchup all over their face). The screaming didn't really phase Ariel and she continued to sit and snack on treats. Haha.

A group picture of all the kids, they looked so cute.

Molly and Ariel hung out on the stairs... and Ariel tried a few times to feed her some chips.

As the other families packed up and left, we continued to stay, play a wacky game called 'Looping Louie' (much more fun with a glass of wine) and chat. Ariel is a real party animal and finally we had to call it a night after midnight since Ken had to teach in the morning. However, Ariel could have been up all night if we let her. What a night owl!

This morning Ariel and I slept in till 1030am and it was great. Its been a pretty lazy day and mainly filled with Ariel going through her loot. Mommy's little sugar baby. Haha.

So that ends our 2 wild days of crazy costumed fun. Ariel loved it and we had a safe fun time with our friends. I have never been big on Halloween, but ever since we had Ariel, I must say its not as bad as I use to think it was.

Thanks for checking out all our fun, and to finish off, a little video of our little ladybug in action. Happy November and remember its day light savings time tonight.
