It started very early this morning. Our alarm went off at 530am and we were up, dressed then loading the car. Once things were all in place, we got Ariel from her bed and got her strapped into her seat. By the time we were on the road it was just a bit after 6am, so we were pleased. It was nice to see the sun rise, although it made it hard to see.
We got to the boarder before 7am, and were though within minutes, ahhh, that was awesome! The guard was super nice ( a big change for us since we usually get the grouch ) and said he wished he could come with us on our trip. Hee. Once through, we found our first stop, a diner called 'Big Al's' for some breakfast. We changed Ariel in the car, since she was still in her pjs, and headed inside. It was so cute. Lots of fun details that Ken and I always love. I kept taking lots of pictures, so here are a few of the great trinkets they had on display.
We all had some pancakes, Ariel had the silver dollars, hee. So good and filling. We paid and got ready to leave but I stopped quickly in the restroom... and that's when I saw the funny thing of our trip. Seriously, who uses a 'shower curtain' as a door in a restroom? I will say it was a really cute one, but still. Haha. Love to hear your thoughts on that one.
Back on the road, we realized we were making really great time so we decided to make a detour at the outlet mall so we could give Ariel a chance to stretch her legs before being stuck in her seat for a few hours. Nothing was open yet, so Ariel and Ken spent most of their time waiting by playing on all the ride on toys. Yes, the kids were having a fun. Haha. I must say that seeing Muppet or Disney ones are always exciting for us.
This one was Ken's favorite!
The shops then opened and I found a few deals and got a birthday present for a party Ariel is attending when we get home from our trip (since I figure I won't have much time before hand to get something when we return).
We got back in the car by 11am and headed off. Driving to our next location only took 1.5 hours. We were having lunch at Twede's Cafe, where they used to film Twin Peaks! (If you don't remember that show then it might be hard to see our dorky excitement to be there. Hee) Ken was thrilled and we had to take lots of pictures.
The food was actually really good. They had 50 burgers on the menu, and it took awhile to read though and eventually pick just one. Of course we shared the official Twin Peaks cherry pie. It was amazing! Ariel got a special treat with her meal, they made her milk into a fancy drink, and needless to say she was captivated with it.
Ariel then made friends with a dog outside the window...
...and we took some cute pictures with the train tracks.
After lunch we then entered the longest driving part of the day. It was a 4 hour drive to get to Spokane from where we presently were. Ariel fell asleep pretty fast since it was her usual nap time. We drove and enjoyed the scenery, and stopped a few times to take a small break and snap some pictures. A nice fellow offered to snap our picture. Do we look tired yet?
Ariel woke up about an hour before we got to Spokane, and we kept her entertained with fun music and peek a boo games. I was excited when we finally arrived and we went to dinner first since we were all starved. Dinner was at a place called CHKN-N-MO that I found online that had great reviews. We weren't disappointed, it was wonderful southern cooking in a very relaxed style that was a real treat. The tables were picnic ones, and the food was served up like you were at a BBQ. Everything was super yummy and the cook even came out to everyone to say hello. Ariel really liked him and his deep voice.
With our bellies full, we checked into the hotel for the night. Ariel had to help bring our bags in, such a great girl.
To relax a bit and for Ariel to burn off some energy, we went to the pool.
Now we are hanging out and Ken and Ariel are watching a movie while I write. We will be heading out early again tomorrow morning. Its another long day of driving, so we want to get on the road as fast as we can. We will meet up with Ken's mom and brothers tomorrow so that's exciting.
Well, I will leave you with some of the scenery we saw today on our trip, enjoy and we will check in again soon. Love to you all.

Looks like you are off to a good start. I agree, the shower curtain is a bit strange, but on the flip side, that was one CLEAN looking washroom. Always a plus. Have fun!
Sounds like a full day, looks like you are all having fun. :)
You are plucking along! Glad it's going well!!
