Day 5 - Final Park Visit

Today was our last day in Yellowstone, kinda sad in a way. Its been such an amazing trip that it's weird to think its ending, but tomorrow morning we will be packing up and heading home.

Outside our hotel this morning there were some horses. Ariel LOVED them and wanted to keep visiting them.

Anyhoo, we had a full day planned and got rolling once we were fed and dressed. As we drove into the park we noticed a sight we had seen the day before doing something we hadn't seen the last time. Roaring Mountain was steaming, and it was really pretty.

The first stop today was Fire Hole Lake for some fun in the water. We read that it was suppose to be one of the warmer places to go swimming. It was such a HOT day today that it seemed like a good idea. Initially, the water seemed cold, but it didn't take long to be warm and Ariel had a blast jumping and splashing around.

We also saw this cute little guy, hee!

Afterwards we headed off to find a place to picnic for lunch. While we were preparing our sandwiches, a female elk goes walking by. Too cool!

We went down by the river after we ate and watched the fish swim and did some bird watching. Ariel loved getting to run around and took turns walking with everyone by the river banks.

She found a feather in the grass and called it 'hair'. I guess its bird hair right?

A picture with my sweetie!

Then we drove to one of the general stores in the area for souvenir shopping and to get some ice cream. My goodness, the size of the 'single scoop' was CRAZY. It was more like 6 small scoops that overfilled a cup. Yikes! Ariel didn't mind the size and went around testing every ones flavor choices.

Once we were full of sugar, we had to go walk it off. So we went to the Artist Point, which is home to Yellowstone's version of the Grand Canyon. It was stunning and no pictures could do it justice. We also saw the upper and lower falls and it truly was a beautiful sight. Its so amazing that Yellowstone has sooooooooo many different things in one area! I highly recommend going if you get the chance. You won't regret it.

Family picture, awe.

As we were driving out of the park, we spotted our last big animal find! Bighorn Sheep... er...

... a family of Bighorn sheep! So cool! They were going up the mountain side and totally unaware of the crowd watching them below. Haha.

We got back to the hotel to change for dinner. Ariel got to wear her new dress that she got from Grammy for her birthday. I love brown on her.

Uncle Dan and Ariel goofing around. Hee.

We went to dinner at a nice Italian place and had spaghetti and meatballs. Ariel loved her pasta, yummy!

Once we were back at the hotel, we started packing stuff up and preparing for leaving tomorrow. We are hoping to leave around 9am so we shall see how that goes. The trunk of the car is packed and all we have left to do is load the backseat, get gas and some oil for the car and pick up some snacks for the long drive. Its going to be sad saying good bye, but hopefully we will see them soon in the new year. I feel so blessed we got to have such an amazing adventure with them.

Tonight I want to leave you with some video of the amazing sight we saw today at the canyon and a few special moments I am sure Ariel will want to watch over and over. Check in tomorrow for our journey home.
