Day 2 - Travelling to Yellowstone

Well, we made it! Yay! I thought yesterday was a long drive, today was even longer. The day started at 6am at the hotel. We had a great sleep and then ate some yummy breakfast in the hotel's eating area. I had a fresh waffle, I had never seen that before in a hotel. You fill the cup with batter and add it to the waffle iron and a timer automatically beeps when its done. So good.

We loaded the car and were out the door at 730am. We filled the car's tank up and headed on our way. The drive was nice because it was much cooler than the previous day. Ariel ended up falling asleep pretty fast and that was ok since she had a late night the day before and was up really early again. Poor thing, she really is a trooper.

About 3 hours later (plus an hour for the time change) we had passed through the top of Idaho and were in Montana which would take most of our day to drive through. We stopped in Missoula, which was a really cute little town. There we had lunch at the Uptown Diner, another place we had found online. It was super yummy and very cute. The waitress kept calling us 'hon' or 'sweetie'. Ken got to have his favorite cherry coke and I even had a treat of a chocolate milkshake, sooooooooo good. Ariel loved the music and the bright colors of the place. Another great find!

Then came the LONG drive... and I mean LONG. However a few hours in, we then realized that we were in serious need of gas and we hadn't seen a station in ages. When I glanced at the dash and saw the little arrow very much resting in the red zone, I started to freak out a bit. Nothing scarier than thinking of running out of gas in the middle of nowhere, and frankly its one of my fears. Gack. I started praying and within minutes we hit a TINY little road stop with a gas station. Praise the Lord! I was never so happy to see these cheesy palm trees and Dino gas sign.

Ariel was really good for the most part but at one point she really wanted to get out and there was no place at all to stop and do this. So we hooked up the dvd player Brenda and Kevin lent us for the trip. Ariel happily watched Muppets until she fell asleep again. She didn't wake up again until it was about an hour from our destination.

I was so excited to finally see our hotel! I had enough driving and totally needed to eat and stretch out. We found Ken's mom and brothers and saw our room which is down a few doors from them. Its got an amazing view of the river that Ken's mom paid more for and she felt were worth it, I agree, amazing! Ariel LOVED watching the river from the window, except she kept asking where the ducks were? Haha.

Grammy gave Ariel an early present of new sandals. They are sooooo cute. Gold with bling starfishes. Ariel and Grammy have a love of shoes in common.

We had dinner at a place called Outlaws which was really cute with all its decor. Ariel and I shared a small pizza which was very tasty.

After dinner we looked at the beautiful sunset and then had a swim in the pool, which was a little cold for my liking but it got me swimming some laps to warm up, so that was good.

Tomorrow is our little girl's birthday, and she gets to open gifts tomorrow, and then its on to Yellowstone! Yay!

One again to close, here are some of the sights from our trip today. Gotta love road trips... but I am glad we won't be driving for a few days. Ahhh, time to relax.
